Yeah, he spent the oil money brilliantly on RSC.
Let's not kid ourselves that he's some form of transfer genius - all managers have their good and bad buys!
Can't blame him Greg, young is a class player, sidwell isn't!
I know, but its still annoying. Damm pesky Hughes and his reliable judgement of a player's ability :0(
* spot on *
Hmm, this is the man who paid £12m for Bridge, £18m for Jo and £22m for Lescott.

Presumably, you're both having a bit of a laugh here.
I'm not massively bothered about Hughes's skills to judge a player beyond the fact that he's noticed Sidwell is rubbish.
Bad Ailsa, bad Ailsa!
Sidwell? Nah. Luke Young? Chuck him in the back of the ute!
To be fair to Hughes he had an unlimited budget so if he wanted to spend over the odds he could, but i guess they are stuck with quite a few players that no-one wants on massive wages which could never happen at Villa.
Hang on...

But you said he had a reliable judgement of a players ability. Now you're backtracking.
Are we keeping the Ginger Crab? bugger.
Are we really going to do the whole 'Martin buys crap players' 'So does every manager' thing again?

No i'm not. I do think he has a reliable judgement on players but paid over the odds for them and as he said this week he didn't sign half of them. I'd say they'll have an easier time getting rid of RSC and the rest, than if they had a 18m Harewood or 20m Heskey to offload

Harewood and Heskey cost £38m? Bloody hell!
Harewood has probably cost us £8m? In fee and wages.
What a total waste of money.

They would have if MON was in charge at Citeh. In fact, they'd be bracing themselves about now for breaking the world record fee paid for an Irishman
