It's the same team as last season with Nige in for Carew, something we all know MON isn't gonna do...

I reckon we're going to play 4-4-1-1 or 4-3-3, . But whatever the formation we still have good enough players to start the season with. A more likely line up maybe?

Martin O'Neill - The Musical.

Act Two.

Interior. The Barton Arms.

Song: Milner - With You or Without You.

Dave Woodhall: We were talking about the space in our midfield-

Pauliewalnuts: With two wingers a certain weakness is revealed.

Legion returns from the bar carrying seven pints of Old Bee Strangler's Stout. Abv 5.4. Just a hint of honey. Very nice.

Legion: Four four two?

DC5 - Never works for me.

Risso: Subs when all it's too late.

DC5: And they pass us by.

Pause.

Dave Woodhall: We were talking about the fact that our right back-

DC5: When we find one.

Percy: Just try your best to hold that thought.

Villadawg: With O'Neill-

DC5 - With O'Neill.  We will win fuck all.

Legion - This is a good brew.

Several Rentokil operatives wearing biological warfare suits burst into the pub and rush straight to the gents lavatory.

Percy: Try to visualise a system-

TheSandman: Four three three?

Monty: Four two three one-

DC5: We must change.

John M: Can't he see that NRC is much too small .

Enter the Gnasher disguised as Nick Lees. Arms flailing wildly as if dancing to Pink Floyd at the Round House. Smoke pouring wildly from various chillums and pipes.

Gnasher: And life flows on. No-one signed.

Legion returns from the bar carrying twelve pints of Harry Gregory's Summer Ale. Abv 8.6. Hoppy with a hint of cumin and licourice. Very nice.

Legion: Four four two?

The Gnasher rips off his disguise.

Gnasher: You were talking about a team that's grown so old.
Emile Heskey is crap. And pap is Sidwell as foretold.
By myself.
You can't see.
Are you a Monette?

Enter Richard Moore at the head of a mob carrying pitchforks, torches and a banner saying 'Righteous Miserable Old Gits Association'.

Richard Moore: When you've seen Bruce Rioch bash it in against Notts County second time of asking you will know. That there there is no other place than Villa Park that you will go.

How does NRC get a spot he's been ignored for the last twelve months, can't see MON using him. We could be busy in January................ if we have a new manager.

He just will Robbo, I can feel it in my Mark Walters!

Ah, just imagine it, Beds. 3 nights a week at the Palladium, 4 nights a week at Ronnie Scott's or similar. At least that's what Spike Milligan always seemed to do.

Wheb we were still euphoric about our future the main complaint about NRC was that he gave the ball away too easily and that we needed better,
it just shows how we have lowered our expectations.

Is this O'Neill the musical a tragedy or a comedy?

I need to know as they're also trying to get me for the chorus line of 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now' which aims to do for The Smiths what 'We Will Rock You' did for Queen.

I can't do too many tragedies.

I'd imagine 'MON: the musical' would be a tragicomedy, something in the realms of Woody Allen's black humour phase in the mid-80s. Lots of songs about the Yorkshire Ripper or Filbert Street or other horrible things.

I assume you mean the 'Royal We' Robbo. No complaints from me, hell NRC even made Sidwell play well... NRC, Petrov, and if we get him, Ireland in a midfield 3 would be great IMO.

I just think that NRC is more suited to being a rugby player than a footballer: head down, run until you're stopped appears to be his style. I can see him at flanker, he'd do well there.

Of course, the MON musical would have some kind of punchy tongue-in-cheek title, like:

"Delighted!"

McGeady at the Villa I know
I know it's serious
McGeady at the Villa I know
I know it's serious

There are times I could
Have strangled MoN
But You Know, I Would hate
Anything to happen to him

No I don't want to see McGeady

Carlton Cole; I know

NRC needs to play in a 3 man central midfield or a diamond formation. there he'd be pretty dammed useful. 4-4-2 he's not good enough to do it with two wingers like young and downing not helping out.. why he bought him in the first place is a mystery
