Of course, the MON musical would have some kind of punchy tongue-in-cheek title, like:

"Delighted!"

That's just one of the many stand-out numbers from the show, along with "Terrific, absolutely terrific", "You know his price" and the great valedictory "No regrets - no, seriously, none at all".

You, sir, are one of this world's good guys. One day I hope to shake your hand.

And I only did it because sooner or later you would've turned up and said 'fingers on lips and write me a nice song'.

Spurs to offer Bentley, Jenas and Keane in swap deal for Villa star Young

Published 23:00 29/07/10 By XXXXXXXXXX

Harry Redknapp is willing to give Aston Villa up to three Spurs stars in a bid to finally get Ashley Young.

Tottenham boss Redknapp tried unsuccessfully to lure Villa’s wing wizard Young, 25, last summer.

Villa fended off interest from the London club by handing Young a pay-rise increasing his salary to £65,000-a-week.

But Redknapp remains a huge admirer of the former PFA young player of the year.

Villa’s £30million price tag on the winger means Tottenham cannot afford him despite qualifying for the Champions League.

But Redknapp knows Villa boss Martin O’Neill rates Robbie Keane, David Bentley and Jermaine Jenas.

All three stars were marginalised at White Hart Lane last season by Redknapp as Spurs finished fourth in the Premier League.

And Redknapp is willing to sanction an exchange involving any of the trio for Young, who cost Villa £9.65m from Watford in January 2007.

Redknapp and O’Neill have already discussed Villa signing Republic of Ireland ace Keane.

Jenas, meanwhile, started Spurs’ friendly against Villarreal last night, but was taken off injured after 17 minutes.

And Redknapp knows only a mouth-watering offer for ex-Watford trainee Young will get the Villa star.

But Villa need to sell-to-buy and could be tempted to do business to revamp their squad if Young asks to quit.

Young, who would jump at a return to London, could ask to leave to put pressure on Villa to finally do business with Tottenham.

Redknapp also wants to sign Villa defender Curtis Davies and Man City stopper Micah Richards to bolster his defence.

I've deleted the journalist's name for this. You don't need it to know.

It's a shame they listed the players in that order. If they put Keane's name ahead of Jenas you could go through a kind of stadial progression of emotions of happiness, disinterest, anger and sheer unbridled rage when you hear 'for Ashley Young'.

That's literally a story from last year. And it was fictional last year as well.

I know. Same journalist says Milner is going for £28million and we are going to sign Irish trickster Aiden McGeady for £11million in the story I've just linked on the Milner thread.

But where are the subs?
Quick, send in the subs.
Don't bother, they're here.

Isn't it rich?
Isn't it queer,
Losing my timing this late
In my career?
And where are the subs?
There ought to be subs.
Well, maybe next year.

However, The Grauniad reckons another suiter is after said trickster.

Quote
Aiden McGeady's reluctance to move to Russia is to be severely tested, with Spartak Moscow showing no intention of ending their six-month pursuit of the Celtic  winger. Spartak's technical director, Evgeniy Smolencev, is reported to have been in Glasgow for talks with Celtic officials this week. The Russian club have so far made only a verbal offer for McGeady, worth more than £8m, which is now set to be followed up formally.

Celtic's chief executive, Peter Lawwell, was not in Portugal as Celtic crumbled to a 3-0 Champions League qualifying defeat to Braga yesterday. Neil Lennon, the Celtic manager, had said McGeady would play but the 24-year-old was a notable absentee from the squad in Portugal. That matter at least will please Spartak, who will take their place in the Champions League proper, given McGeady has not been cup-tied. He instead played in a practice match at Celtic's training complex.

McGeady is virtually certain to leave Parkhead before the transfer window closes. The player is keen to test himself on a higher stage and funds from his sale will aid Lennon's overhaul of the squad he inherited from Tony Mowbray. That issue has been highlighted further by the likely lack of Champions League money for Celtic this season.

Yet a hitch will occur if McGeady maintains his reluctance towards moving to the Russian league and no rival bid is forthcoming. Aston Villa have an interest in the Republic of Ireland international but are yet to make a formal offer. Even if they do so, it will only be after James Milner is sold to Manchester City.

The most stinging critique of Celtic's display in the third qualifying round, first leg in Braga came from one of their own players. The defender Glenn Loovens claimed the manner in which Celtic lost two of the three goals was "a joke". Loovens said: "It was not good enough for the Champions League. We gave away an easy penalty [for the first goal] but I never felt we were in trouble of any sort in the game because they didn't really spread us open.

"To be fair, we have to be better on the ball, because we could not put three passes together. In the second half, we continued to play badly, but hardly gave anything away. Then, two sloppy set pieces and you are 3-0 behind. It was already hard. But, how we gave the last two goals away was a joke. You would take 1-0 home, and everything is wide open. But now 3-0 behind, it makes it a tough task."

Some good news for Lennon arrived with the completion of a deal to sign the Israeli midfielder Beram Kayal. The 22-year-old from Maccabi Haifa has signed a four-year deal.

Panic on the streets of London
Panic on the streets of Birmingham
I wonder to myself
Could we ever sell Sidwell ?

Transfer windows that bring you down
I wonder to myself
Hopes may rise for the Gnasher
Happy Clappers, you're not safe here
So you run down
Talk like we're Huddersfield Town

But there's Panic on the streets of Carlisle
Transfer windows/Derrick Bird you decide
I wonder to myself

Sell our best players
Sack the blessed Martin
Because the football that we constantly play
Means I'd rather spend time with the wife
Sack the blessed Martin
Because the football that we constantly play

On the transfer windows that bring you down
Garry Cook you're a clown

Ban The Window Ban The Window Ban The Window
Ban The Win- dow Ban The Window.

I think with Sidwell and Heskey being our most common subs last year, you could keep the words the same as the original.

As for McGeady, that's quite interesting. Could be that our interest is all about if Milner leaves, at which point he is replaced by Ireland and either Ash or Downing moving to the centre, with McGeady filling their spot on the wing. Even so, that's not an excuse. Honestly, I'm a real 'Monette' as the Gnasher would have it, but sometimes you just want to go up to MON's face and shout "THERE ARE OTHER COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD".

Hughes must also decide whether to finalise a £2m deal for Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell which has been on the back burner for several weeks as Fulham sought a replacement for Roy Hodgson.
