Were I a cynical sort of fellow, I'd think that old 'arry is circulating a story to the press the try and stir things up and see if Ash bites.  But I'm not cynical so I'm sure that's not what's happening.

I think the guardian have took the correct pisstake approach on this (just reporting the Mirror's link)

Having made front-page news earlier this week for offering to find a nice sanctuary for para-sailing Russian donkey Anapka, Harry Redknapp is showing no such compassion to David Bentley, Jermaine Jenas and Robbie Keane, who he appears ready to ship out to Aston Villa in exchange for Ashley Young. Having stuck one of their comedy £30m price-tags on a winger so mediocre he couldn't even get in the England World Cup squad, Villa were obviously hoping to ward off potential suitors, but clearly hadn't bargained for 'Arry's initiative and imagination in the face of transfer market adversity.

Barry Glendenning doesn't appear to rate Ash & JC

Beşiktaş have expressed an interest in taking John Carew back to the banks of the Bosphorus. The lumbering Norse god of occasional bullet-headers from well-placed corners.

Which they got from the Mirror. It's just a round up of paper speculation isn't it?

He's also clearly rarely watched either play football, the wanker. He's easily the most tabloidish of all the Guardian football writers, likes to wind people up, a lot. AND IT'S BLOODY WORKED!!!

Of course, the MON musical would have some kind of punchy tongue-in-cheek title, like:

"Delighted!"

Lets hope its an opera, someone always dies in the end

So he's either part of the Milner deal which has fallen through and City wont sell to us, we were never after him or he's staying in Manchester but moving clubs.

*shrugs*

well he could move to Liverpool as rumoured but for certain he stays at City, Milner is not going there, that will be a clear sign.

As for McGeady, that's quite interesting. Could be that our interest is all about if Milner leaves, at which point he is replaced by Ireland and either Ash or Downing moving to the centre, with McGeady filling their spot on the wing.

For various reasons, I think next year's plan will be 4-4-1-1.  I think he's earmarked Keane to play behind Gabby, with Ash as the alternative so we can keep the formation the same even if Keane is out for any reason.  So, another winger makes sense, firstly to give some competition, and also to be there if Ash is playing off the striker.  Playing that way also requires an attacking central midfielder and although I think Milner could be that man, insisting Ireland is part of any deal for him fits into things aswell, plus Ireland could also play off the striker in that formation.

Good post John, sounds coherent.

They've heard of Mcgeady in Russia!?

The Spurs deal actually would have sounded a good bit of biz, like three years ago!  Clearly its rubbish anyway right?
