Wasnt Crouch the third UK Liverpool signing?

I've checked up and Crouch and Carson signed in 2005 and Flower in 2006.

Probably.

They've just signed 18 year old Rangers defender Danny Wilson for £2million + Add ons.

For Rangers fans it's a worrying time. Harewood links, half the squad sold.

Scottish.

Deal is £2million initially with add ons depending on appearances increasing it to £5million.

Moving Milner into the middle turned him into a "world class player"  Maybe the same for Downing....

Milner is no where near world class!

Im sorry but this was proved when milner started in the middle with Gerrard on the left, then second half they switched and the difference was leagues apart!

BUT Milner is our Gerrard, our heartbeat and i really hope he does not go.

Liverpool supporting mate of mine is like the cat that got the proverbial at the moment. I'm struggling to keep up with the logic here though - isn't the pharse 'Scottish defender' an oxymoron?

Sense from Carlos

Aston Villa’s versatile defender Carlos Cuellar hopes manager Martin O’Neill will allow him to start the new season in his favoured position of centre-back, following a prolonged period of usage on the right side of defence.

Cuellar, who missed Aston Villa’s first pre-season game against Peterborough on Monday through injury, was initially used as a makeshift right-back during the 2009-10 season due to injuries to Habib Beye and Luke Young, but continued in the role after impressing O’Neill.

"I felt okay at right-back and comfortable, but I think Luke and Habib are two of the best right-backs in the UK," Cuellar told the Birmingham Mail.

"I think they are very good players. I have watched them and learnt from them because they have played there all their life.

"I have to watch and learn to play like them. It was a new position and I tried to do better and better all the time.

"I think it was a special moment because they needed me there at right-back, but I think my natural position is centre-back.

"I am going to try and play at centre-back because it’s where I feel happier and more confident. I think I play better there, but I always do everything I can to help the team.

"If I’m needed at right-back I will play right-back, even midfielder or goalkeeper, wherever the gaffer needs me.

"I am coming back with full motivation and looking forward to playing every game."

The 28-year-old defender made 36 Premier League starts for the Villans last season, scoring two goals.

Carlos is playing a risky game. Though perhaps not as risky as his passing.

An egotist like MON could interpret that as being told what to do.

Still, if it means that CC doesn't play right back next year- due to MON taking the hint or just plain ostracising him altogether- it might just be worth it.
