Palacios is quality IMO, Mascherano certainly isn't world class but is decent. Obi Mikel is underrated I think, good year last year.

Same here. Sometimes I have to wonder how decent looking players like those mentioned above end up being so average (at best) for us. Is it down to our coaching staff ? I thought Curtis was going to be the new Paul McGrath. Wrong, so wrong.

Me too except for Shorey. I seen him given a going over by a decent winger in a couple of games and it made my mind up.

However we were desperate for a left back with little time to spare and he'd got pedigree so I gave him the beneifit, but he turned out to be a liabilty to the back four.

mind you i thought heskey might give us that last push when we bought him so i know nada.  i do think when we buy these players we may not ask them to do what they were doing when they were successful or put them with like players that made them successful
