I’d have Ireland and Parker.

We’d have some real depth and quality in the middle of the park with Petrov, Milner, Parker and Ireland to choose from.

That looks good to me.

We'll need a bit of reconstruction in central midfield over the next year I think as we won't see Delph until after Xmas, Stan will be 31 in the summer so dunno if he can last another season playing in a two man midfield. One of NRC/Sidwell will have to stay now because of the Delph injury but we're still one short in central midfield in case of injuries.

NRC every time then! Sidwell offers absolutely nothing. NRC's only weakness is his passing isnt very creative.

Sidwell is one of a few we need to get shot of in the Summer, I can see one of the newly promoted sides being after that sort of player and in todays market we could get around £4mil for him.  Reo-Coker I have liked for awhile, and its time for Martin to bit the bullet and give him a regular run in the team.  I am not so convinced about Pertov anymore, so maybe we will need at least two midfelders.

As for a full-back how about Leighton Baines, he's been much improved this year at Everton, would very much fit into our style and still has his best years ahead of him.

Would any of us swap Milner for Hart, Richards and Ireland?

Just a thought.

Not the worst shout in the world.

But I think we can get another year (possibly two) out of the Fried monster in goal and Richards would give us kittens, some of the daft things he does.

So on balance, no.

Sidwell to 3-4m to a Wolves or a Fulham wouldn't surprise me.

Fulham were allegedly in for Sidwell last summer weren't they? We'll do them a deal on a coupe of ex-Reading players.

Sidwell and Shorey for Dempsey and £2m.

Everyone's happy.

I'm sure Shorey played at right back for them a few weeks ago!

According to reports Blackburn Rovers are one of a number of Premier League clubs looking to secure the services of Deportivo La Coruna winger Andres Guardado.

The Mexico international midfielder could be sold by Deportivo president Augusto Cesar Lendoiro this summer.

Radio Cadena Ser claims Rovers are interested in Guardado, who is contracted to the club until 2012.

The station also understands that Aston Villa are interested in the midfielder.

Out of interest, if we bought a "playmaker" would we really want to leave Ash, Downing and/or Milner on the bench?  Why would we also want a holding midfielder?, Chelsea play better without Mikel, who is supposed to be one of the best?  Barry has been "turned" into one, and is annonymous these days...  I think Hart would be a super signing, and a striker that could hack it in the premiership, and hold the ball up to pressurize places up front would be a good signing.  Depends on the kitty if there is one, and wages.  Thats all I think we need to change.

Lets take Konchesky as well and we've got a replacement for Shorey sorted too.

Agreed, I'm not really into the holding midfielder idea either, I think that if you have three midfielders of any physical description who have some positional intelligence and work very hard you don't need a specialist holder. Fine, if you want to play a luxury genius like Riquelme in there or something, you should have a Makelele to balance it out, but short of that sort of talent you generally want multi-functional midfielders with technique, creativity and work ethic.

I still think that Gabby could be that striker you talk about there, although if Carew goes especially we will need another option up front (but preferably cheap, please). My priority is definitely on that extra creative midfielder that allows us to play a midfield three with the type of quick passing that Bayern showed, for instance. Maybe also a higher standard of squad midfielder than Sidwell (i.e. one we don't actually mind playing), like young Dorrans. Then we may be in business.
