i have seen enough of mcgeady to form an opinon that he just simply isnt up to much other than doing his one trick against crap defences in scotland...

he will get found out pretty quickly in the english premier league, and for me, he will simply be another, but far more expensive, maloney style flop...

in my humble opinion...

Young's not going, they're just trying to make a story out of a non-story. Especially if Milner goes, but Young's not going anywhere anyway.

I hope not, but it's not quite so easy to dismiss the interest of, say, Spurs this season as it has been in the past.

Albrighton is a better prospect than McGeady.

Watching McGeady for a few years and I have come to the conclusion that he is a limited player with a lot of unnecessary hype around him. He has not realised any of potential yet and I would be dissapointed if came here.

Great we are signing the Scottish Mark Walters.

is it me or does he look like a class player, i work for the scottish team in my company and chat to celtic fans all day and nearly 99% have said that he is a class player, he has flair and is more of a forward player then a winger.... they also all say he is way way better then Maloney "who i rated at Villa"

Swap heskey and give them £4 m max and maybe - but anymore than that I wouldn't bother.

That bizarre little semi-turn trick he has is comedy gold. Can't imagine him having the time or space to do that down here. No doubt MON will offer him 60k a week

I've seen him play for Ireland more than I have for Celtic, but my opinion is also less than favourable.

But I agree with the point that if he was playing in a similar standard league on the continent some opinions on here would be more charitable in the "Might be worth a punt" mold.

Not the deal I'd be looking for. Release Heskey as he is a bag of shit. Don't sign McGeady as he is also a bag of shit. Give the £4,000,000.00 to Milner to hang about for the next two seasons. Going on the figures being bandied about this morning, that would have Jimmy on about £78,000/wk. A monumental waste, but still a damn sight better than having those other two wasters at the club.

People are slagging off McGeady like they've scouted him for a living. None of us have any knowledge of whether he'd be a success in the PL or not. In fact, I can guarantee you that if he signs for someone else and does well, people will be slagging MON for letting him slip by. He's a talented, yet unproven player at PL level just like every foreign player some have been screaming for us to get. If McGeady was really the promising Van McGeady from the Dutch or Belgian league would it make any difference or just sound a little more glamorous?

No, the screaming is about only buying players who've played in the PL or its more violent, less watchable version north of the border.

I've seen him on occasions and been unimpressed. Others here have seen him much more, and seem even more unimpressed.

Year on year, come transfer window, we always seem to be downscaling our ambitions and almost making excuses for some of the signings ("wait till i see what he does in the shirt" - Harewood / Knight).

It'd be nice, once maybe, to make a signing with a bit of ambition rather than "more of the same" from a predictable pool of players, because that will not be enough to move us on. At some point, we need to bring about a quality shift in our players, upwards.

No, not signing Messi, but signing players a fair bit better than the ones we already have.

The fact remains we don't know what he can or cannot do in the PL. Just like Wigan fans knew nothing of Rodallega or Palacios before they joined and did well. I still think we need to sign solid squad players especially as is likely we are going to ship some out. Whether McGeady fits that mould I don't know, but taking the position that he's from Scotland or England therefore he's predictably average isn't necessarily true. I don't disagree with anyone who suggests we need to broaden our search beyond these shores, but I'm not going to get upset if we are still looking in this market if the right player at the right price comes along.

It's left-field, and I like it.

Lerner needs to get someone in to handle the transfers. obviously gone seriously wrong if we're paying those sort of wages to players like Davies and Shorey.

Not sure about that. Out of the two I'd probably be happier to have McGeady for a season.
