Of course, everyone knows what McGeady's like because they see him play every week, so their judgement is taken in high regard.

You'd never seen A.Young play before and he turned out great, so why not McGeady? Yes, he may be another Maloney, but you don't know unless you sign him and as we're not going to pay loads of money or sign unrealistic players, why not?

I'd like another winger to play on the opposite side to A.Young. Downing isn't a winger, I can see him turning into a Barry-type player (though not as good).

I don't think McGeady will do more than Maloney, poor signing.

Back on Heskey, the most bizarre thing I thought when we signed him was giving a 31 year old a 3 and a half year deal so we're stuck with him for two more years unless someone like Stoke is daft enough to offer 2m for him.

Perhaps, McGeady comes in and we play him and Downing wide, and Ash behind the striker in a free role?

I'd like that. Ash could kick on to another level playing a free role I feel. Maybe Martin sees that.

I think we are more likely to see Downing in the middle with McGeady and Ash out wide. A Cm pairing of Petrov and Downing is worrying to say the least but I think it is very likely to happen.

The positives I can see with Keane are that he can create and score goals, which should be good for Gabby,  he is a bit more of a variable, which we are desperate for. One of his bezzy mates is here in Dunne and that he knows the area and is keen on the move. This means he should hit the ground running and hopefully increase our goal tally.

I would be more tempted to have a go for Eagles than McGeady. Only got a year of his deal left so would be a lot chaeper and he always seems pretty lively whenever i've seen him play.

Eagles looked ok against us last season- what made me laugh was burnley saying they have accepted a substantial bid for him - turns out it was £1.3m, also I'd have gone for artur boruc who's left Celtic for just £1.7m.

Okay I shall clarify my position by saying I watch the SPL rather a lot and I really don't rate him. Now I'm not alone amongst regular SPL viewers in not rating him. Celtic fans are hardly greeting into their bovril over the prospect of his leaving and one or two pundits are scathing over him.

I agree with you on Downing though. I fancied him to play inside when we signed him.

I really rate Eagles and would prefer him to McGeady. I think Burnley would have had a better chance of staying up if Laws had picked him as a starter more often.

If we are looking for a winger I'd go for one of Bentley, N'Zogbia and Lee Chung-Yong of Bolton who would probably cost the same as McGeady. That said what do I know? I've watched all of those three less than McGeady.

I've watched McGeady 5-6 times for Ireland and he looks worse than Stephen Hunt which is saying something.

He tends to come off the bench too doesn't he? And Hunt tends to play left wing, meaning he can't get in ahead of Hunt...says it all really. For starters, if he's not better than Duff, we should avoid.

Just checked it out on a Celtic forum and the word in Glasgow is that mcgeady being strongly linked with a move to spurs rather than villa.

I'd gladly take bentley off their hands if that's true.

I've not seen this McGeady fella play so i can't comment on what he's like, but considering no-one's had a decent word to say about him so far, that's good enough for me.

As for others possibles, Stephen Ireland, Robbie Keane and Diego Perez would be my main targets.

My best mate is a Burnley fan. Therefore, I've watched Burnley play about 15 times over the last 18 months and he is garbage.

He touted himself for a move last year, and when nobody came in for him he when the other way and declared how committed he was to the club.

He did the same again this season. The Burnley fans will take whatever they can get for him as he seems like a waster.

Get the deal done Harry. Quickly please. McGeady is a waste of space.
