We are falling behind city and spurs and they are both going to spend far more than us again this summer, Liverpool will be stronger without benitez and everton will be stronger without the chronic injuries.

I think we all know who the top 8 will be but I fear 7th could be our lot unless things change in the next few weeks , if he's after keane or Ireland then let's get them, they are both available or are we really that skint?

This is the time to bring new players in so they can get used to our system and their new teammates , not the end of august.

forget about the Abu Dhabi select XI as they live on different planet to us and  everyone else and as for Spuds I could see their season implode if they do not make the promised land(NCL).

I heard on the radio this morning that Spurs themselves haven't signed anybody yet. I don't know if that's true 'cos I don't really take any notice of them but surely their fans are in more of a flap over their lack of activity than we ought to be.

my guess is we have between 10-15m plus what we get from sales. the wages bill probably limits us further till be can offload some of the high paid deadwood. If spurs are playing hardball with Keane  then thats seriously going to slow things down

For all we know Spurs are in the same boat as us - maybe they're not signing because they too have a lack of funds. So they're after a good deal for Keane or Bentley to sign players themselves, but it's reached an impasse because neither of the two clubs (if the reports are true about Villa's interest) are prepared to budge.

I dont think you're a million miles away with that. We dont know how much the FxPro money will factor in our spending too.

But even a guess based on that could be £10m + sales (£10m-£20m) + FxPro money (£0-£20m depending on where its allocated). So anything from £20m - £50m without even factoring Milner. There could be a fair bit to spend. I appreciate this is wild speculation, there's no need to tell me.

ANOTHER DAY ANOTTHER DAY OF NO TRANSFER STORIES ABOUT THE VILLA !!!

ARE WE GOING TO SIGN ANYONE ???

I noticed that Liverpool have signed a masseur who used to be Simply Reds guitarist. We never seem to get any ex-popstars on our backroom staff. Its shit.

Shouldn't we also be counting in the £3.5m we got for Gardner in January?

The press talk is that they want to sell Keane in order to buy Bellamy.

Spurs have champions league cash and I heard bellamy was going for £5m , huntelaar was what I heard spurs were trying to do.

He's staying but not through choice it seems.

Fulham Statement:

Quote
On Thursday morning, following talks with Ajax, the Club can confirm that it has ceased negotiations for the release of Martin Jol from his contract with the Dutch Club.

Although Fulham had agreed personal terms with Martin Jol, Ajax were not willing to allow him to leave under any circumstances, and have held him to the terms of the contract he signed last summer.

When Fulham commenced negotiations with Martin Jol, the Club was informed that an exit clause existed in his contract with Ajax. Subsequent negotiations revealed that the clause was no longer valid and Ajax position remained steadfast in their desire to keep their manager, therefore dialogue between the two clubs has now ended.

yeah the FXProx money should loosen the belts somewhat you'd hope. I just think he's probably unlikely to agree say 10m and 50k a week for Keane if he's only got a budget of 15m and hasn't got a buyer for any of the reserves/Milner yet. Otherwise he could theoretically be stuck with 5m to buy any other players
