Ireland and Pienaar are the only links that I can think of that I think would be good signings. Of course, £12m for a player with only 12-months left on their contract is too much but assuming we could negotiate a reasonable price, would make for a good signing.

Yossi Benayoun set for Chelsea switch

Would have thought Chelski might have been looking for younger players. Strange one really. He's a good player, would suit them quite well. Joe Coles definitely leaving then.

Him and Ballack were confirmed leavers last week. I expect JC to turn up at Eastlands or at Uncle Arrys if he is allowed to pay the wages.

I liked the look of Ghana's defensive midfielder the most, Anthony Annan, looked a lot like Essien, strong, hard working, bit nasty and very good at keeping the ball moving.  He'd be great to compete with Petrov, is still young (23) and is only playing in Norway so we should be very attractive for him.

I'd say someone is going to get him this summer and I think he could well turn out to be a bit of a bargain for whoever it is.

Wiki on him here

Just make sure you're clear about which Ghanaian CM. I don't want to see Prince-Boateng at Villa.

Boateng is a decent player, not really lived up to the massive hype around the time he left Germany, but he is decent enough. His team mate the other day, Annann, was my lesser known player to watch of the WC. Plays for Rosenborg in Norway and is highly rated to be the new Essien, he's only 5'7" but is great at breaking up play and distributing.

Boateng is probably someone MON would look at, over 6 foot powerful. I imagine if we loose Milner then he could be a replacement along with Ireland in the middle.

----------------Hart--------------------

Onuoha----Cuellar---Dunne---Warnock

----Ireland-----Petrov----K.P.Boateng

-----Gabby---Delfouneso---Ashley

Subs:  Friedel, Collins, Clark, Downing, Delph, Albrighton, Carew

A considerably better player than Downing ever was or will be.

Just the sort of player who would be very useful in our ridiculously weak midfield.

I would tip him to be a good signing but he had a trial at Blackburn the other summer and failed.

Boateng? I strongly disagree. Although I agree the need for more steel, I want some quality with it.
