I can't believe that this thread is still open.

No Manager + No Money = No more players

Every time you say you don't believe.......a fairy dies..... :(

And with no additions to the squad likely we can't even afford to lose Downing!

Oh you bastard. I'm now picturing Downing in a pink fairy costume waving a wand.

If there's a need for a thread on weird toilets then the transfer thread is far from redundant. Doesn't even specify Villa transfers either. A transfer thread is far less redundant than posts calling for it to be locked which we seem to see almost every day now.

It is being reported that Steven Taylor was offered 40k a week by Newcastle and turned it down because he was demanding 60k a week!

I dont know who is more insane, Newcastle for offering that much or Taylor thinking he is worth 60k a week.

By the way, in no way am I advocating a move  for him!!!!!

Watched the pre-match press conference on avtv earlier and the hacks actually asked  KMac something we want to know - can Villa make transfers without a manager. Kev's not entirely convincing reply was that after the Everton game the club would be interviewing managers and that as last year proved with the late August signings of Dunne, Collins and Warnock, ''three days or three weeks, it makes no difference''. Fair enough, most deals are done near the deadline but there is no guarantee we will have someone appointed by then. He did add that he's ''recommended some players to Paul'' but that the buying and selling of players  wasn't his remit at this moment.

Whisper it softly, but the way things are looking at the moment, we're not above doing a Newcastle 08/09.

Get out of it! You can't be serious?! Are you really suggesting that these players could get relegated, that the only reason we were able to stay in this division, let alone finish in the top 6 is because of O'Neill?!

No, I'm not saying that at all. What I am saying is that early-season turmoil, followed by lack of quality signings and squad depth, plus farcical results and a management situation rapidly turning into a crisis equals a Newcastle type situation. O'Neill doesn't come into the equation anymore.

And I'm not saying we will find ourselves struggling, just that we might if we don't bring some stability back to the place.

If Gabby and Young have any sense they'll be getting their agents to try and get them out of the club in the next few days. I daresay Ireland will be cursing his.
Give Davies, Beye and Heskey away for free. They're more harm with us and they're costing £100 grand a week.

I don't mean to sound alarmist also, but this could be a season of serious struggle, I mean looking over our shoulder at the like of WBA, Wigan and  the like.

We all know that we're a far better side than that but decent teams on paper of struggled and gone down before, Newcastle, Forest and very nearly (and unfortunatley not in their case) Spurs a few years back.

We are creating the perfect storm for ourselves right now.

At the moment Beye, Sidwell, Davies & Heskey won't be going anywhere. We need to keep them if we're not bringing anyone else in, obviously they're not good enough to play week in week out but as bench options they're better than nothing. Just.

As for players coming in I feel we need a defensive midfielder to maybe give Petrov some real competition, as Reo-coker isn't up to it IMO. Also a striker is a must. We've needed a forward for so long now. Not sure we'll get either, knowing our luck we'll get another centre half, which is better than nothing, but not totally necessary.
