Stephane Sessegnon has been linked, as SSN have said we're in the running for him.

Of course bearing in mind that downing played in central midfield at boro before his injury in petrovs tackle, maybe he now has to regain the courage and put that injury behind him.

Maybe we could send him to the Wizard of Oz.

peter, go to an Arsenal forum and tell them he was rubbish for them. Absolute bollocks mate.
And why would they have expected £10m if he was so poor?

The truth is they missed him greatly when he left. I know a lot of Gooners and they certainly saw it that way. They loved him, had his own songs too.
He and Fabregas were probably the best central midfield pairing in the league at that time. Certainly one of the top two or three.

He wouldnt be a miracle player but he'd bring a lot of quality to our midfield.

There viewpoint of him is tempered by the last memory of him - which is his very good season for them. Before that he was a player who came in and played for them every now and then and did a job but wasn't good enough to keep the shirt.

Most clubs have players that the fans take a shine to. We sing Salifou's name nearly every game and yet he gets a kick every two months or so. He's popular at Villa Park and some will tell you that he has some talent.  He's one good season away from being our very own Flamini.

No, not for me.

Flamini is not in the class of Sneijder. Not even close. Flamini is gettable, Sneijder, now at least, is one of the best players in the world. He'd walk into any team, any squad.

That whole Sneijder / last summer thing has become folklore.

Lots of speculation, none of it particularly convincing, then someone asks Martin if he's interested in him, he says something generic like "I'm always interested in good players" ...

Fast forward 12 months and we were chasing him all summer, speaking to him, seeing him getting out of cars at BMH etc etc.

My point is that Flamini's reputation at Arsenal was built on a very impressive final season when he became a player that wasn't obvious beforehand. My comparison with Salifou was to highlight that any player can get adoration. Its usually saved for those that have been excellent, are local, have the club in their haerts, or are a 'Gus Ceasar' type figure of fun. I'd place salifou at the level of the latter for the fans and Flamini just above that.

He was twentyfuckingfour! Of course it was his first good season he was quite young.

Clearly Milner is crap as before this season aged twenty four he was just a mediocre winger. One season wonder I tell you!

Milner wasn't crap beforehand though. Still, as I said, its an opinion. I'm still not that enured by his presence at B6 though.

Flamini wasn't crap before the age of 24, he had been a regular starter for two of the biggest club sides in Europe and was a full French international.  Much like Milner he really fulfilled that potential aged 23/24, then moved to an even bigger club and struggled, take note James.
