Paulie, it's either that or weeping uncontrollably into the pillow all day.

I'm quite enjoying the summer, myself. Bollocks to it all, that's my attitude. What will be will be.

Makes life a lot easier doesn't it?
Besides, its not like there isnt much to be happy about with regards to Villa. We're in pretty good shape.

As Monty said, the World Cup helps too.

I've also got plenty of stuff more important to worry about than Villa at the moment (hey, haven't we all, times of austerity and whatnot), so I'll focus on that.

Said on another thread that I'm looking forward to this campaign more than the last few.

It will be a pivotal season either way.

The outcome I hope for is that MON betters what he has managed to date both in terms of league placing and standard of football.

But if he doesn't I'd imagine he'll probably fall on his sword and we get the chance to adopt a fresh approach. Changing managers doesn't guarantee success, but ask supporters of two of the clubs who finished directly above us whether the decision can on occasion have merit.

Yup, put in slightly fatalistic terms, if this is another season of dull as dishwater football, culminating in sixth, something will change at the end of the season.

** I am aware that this is only my opinion, and that things could change for the worst.

I don't think it made any difference to Man City and with Spurs not sticking with Jol costs them also, IMO.

But after 3 seasons of 6th we do need a jump forward or we're just going to become stuck there!

We don't need a team that beats City's on every day, we need a team that can last the marathon better than theirs, especially against the smaller teams.

We won't have a better team/squad on paper than Man City do, and probably never will as long as the oil money keeps getting pumped in.  But we can be better than them in terms or organization, team spirit, hard work and balance to the side.

My thoughts precisely, John.

And don't forget the unsettling effect that players not getting a regular game is likely to have. In Adebayour, Tevez and Bellamy, Man City have got 3 masters of the art of throwing their toys out of the pram when they are not in the team week in, week out....

It almost sounds like you're trying to convince yourself that having really good players is actually a bad thing, Richard

*wink*

Too true! Of course, SSN is too busy creaming itself over their latest foreign purchase to notice that we have lost yet another club who used to bring through young English talent. There will be no more than 2 or 3 English players in Man City's team by the end of the season.

I mean if we were to get rid of MON after a season of non improvement.

But, good point, if inadvertently made ;-)

Heard from a very unreliable source that MON has made an offer for Ozil, Suarez and Forlan. Total fee is  10m pounds. The players have accepted and will come to VP once the WC is over.
MON has also sold Harewood, Sidwell,  Heskey and Reo Coker to  Man City for a combined fee of 45m pounds.

This sort of rumours ok?

Heard Inter are lining up a players plus cash offer for Isiah Osbourne.

They've flogged the old Viera, now they want the new one.
