won't get him for 6m. Levy is tighter than a gnat's arse. They paid 12m plus addon payments, of which one undoubtably was CL qualification. more likely 10m or 8m plus add ons

They paid who £12m for Keane? Leeds?

I'm not sure how much money actually changed hands between Liverpool and Spurs over the Keane 'deal' - I read somewhere when he went back to Spurs that, essentially, most of the finance had not gone through so Spurs actually netted a tidy little sum for essentially loaning Keane out for six months.

So I don't think Spurs have much to recoup on Keane at all. Though I agree with you on Levy - he does always seem to strike a hard bargain and Spurs have a recent habit of selling high.

On another thread you suggested we'd be licky to get half of what we paid back for Davies, as the footballing world knows we want to get rid.  So why is any different with Spurs, who obviously want to move Keane along?

Levy may be a shrewd operator, but I'm confident our management also drive a hard bargain in the market.

maybe i'm barking up the wrong tree but aren't clubs no longer allowed to stagger payments? IF thats the case liverpool would have paid the fee there and then.

well keane ain't in the last year of his contract, and neither do spurs have to offer him an improved deal if he kicks a ball for them again. slight difference in circumstances

Oh greggy, you sound increasingly more desperate as the arrival of keano gets ever closer- please don't do anything silly when he signs and give the lad a chance , ten years later than I would have liked but better late than never.

Robbie keane will be a huge success at the villa!

I thought Davies had tweo years left?  One season on loan (07/08) and then signed on a four year deal?

Anyway, yes there are differences, but also a lot of similarities.  For instance, Davies is a lot younger and would have a sell on fee, which may balance things out.  Point being that if we expect them to offer low due to us wanting to sell, then the same can only be expected the other way around if we are after Keane

think its 4 years in total.. certainly been reported in the press as such, but not the first time they've been wrong.  if they want to offer us a swap for Davies then by all means. rather have a good striker with a couple of years left in him, than a shit defender with 5 years in him.

We dont have to offer Davies an improved contract, just a new contract.
And I wouldn't be against that at all.

He'll be entitled to a free if we don't match the best year of his previous deal.

he is or was a good striker. never denied that.. whether we should be pursueing him at the arse end of his career when he won't be getting any better is my problem
