Wonder if Luke Young will have any dirt to dish on MON/Villa when he leaves?

Pat McMahon on this site will be pleased about Young leaving.

Young called Pat a wanker once, when he was playing for Boro and Pat was giving him a bit of stick

Even though I'm not a fan of playing Cuellar at RB, and that Cuellar isn't good coming forward but he makes us much better defensively.

Debatable.

there's nothing to debate. My statement is a fact, look at the stats.

There are many variables that affect the outcome of a football match, so simply looking at the results/goals conceded  in games in which Cuellar has played at right back and those in which he hasn't seems a crude method of analysis.

I remember several occasions where Cuellar's positioning cost us a goal last season.

Can I use evidence that I have seen with my own eyes, or do I have to rely solely on numbers and statistics?

Quite, I've seen some Villa teams defend like Lions over the years and concede 1 or 2 goals, doesn't mean we didn't defend as well as say a routine 1 nil home win against a poor side who caused us no problems at all.

Maybe it should be renamed "Luke Young going to Fulham" anyway.

Pat's a top fella.

His claim to fame was running the London Marathon a few years ago and getting narrowly beaten at the finish line by a bloke who was dressed up as Scooby Doo.

I'm sure you can point to instances where every single player in the world made a mistake last season but I’m not sure what that proves. The fact is that measured over 38 games we had the 4th best defensive record in the league and but for an aberration at Chelsea would have been even higher. Cuellar was a big part of the unit that achieved that.

Agreed, its not King Carlos' defending that is the issue. He's a top defender. Its going the other way that is the problem, particularly against sides at home where we don't need his defensive ability.

By which measure, Glen Johnson must be fantastic defensively, as he formed an integral part of the defence with the 3rd best record in the league last season.

And as for that colossus Kyrgiakos  ...

I bet the several occasions where Cuellar's positioning cost us a goal last season is far less than the number of times he cleared the ball off the line with the keeper beaten. He's a bloody good defender, playing out of position admitedly but still a bloody good defender.

And who was playing at RB that day.
