This rumour seems to be spreading and growing legs. I just got a text from my mate Ashley Bowsh. Who confirms it.

Yes, but complete fabrication is the third room down on the right.

I'm not taking offence and hopefully its Carlos having a laugh or something.. it was mentioned though.. Most rumours on here are complete bollocks.. I'm just saying what I've heard..

4-4-2 is shit.
Get some players who can play in a formation that's not this..

I disagree.

There's nothing wrong with 4-4-2 per se.

There is something wrong, or not quite good enough, with playing 4-4-2 all the time, regardless of who you're playing, or how the match is unfolding, though.

If i could change anything for the way we play next season it would be to get rid of this outmoded "one size fits all" approach we have to the way we play (which also seems to extend to the players we select, nowadays)

Watching the Spurs Man City game last night, the commentators were talking about whether Redknapp would bring on Palacios (I think) towards the end and get him to sit just in front of the back four, to shut the shop.

I found myself thinking how weird that concept is - making substitutions to influence the shape of the game rather than our approach, which is a bit like looking down a log table "minutes = 75, sub = sidwell".

In fairness, I think not having NRC for large portions of the season stopped him switching formations. It shouldn't really but he always used to switch between 4-4-2 and 4--3-2-1 when he was available. Mainly last season.
I dont know why else we switched formations more last season than this.

But you're right Paulie. There's nothing wrong with 4-4-2. Just be flexible. And fuck with the oppostitions mind a bit.

The think with 4-4-2 is we're quite inflexible within it, which I suppose is a trait of most British sides.

It would work better if we had a striker dropping off and creating, or a CB stepping into midfield, etc.  Our only variation is switching the wingers!!

I'm quite impressed that Carlos knows how to say ''move on'' correctly. Having heard him in a couple of interviews I'd have said his level of English was intermediate at best. Comfortable usage of phrasal verbs would suggest a higher level. Then again, perhaps it's something he's rote-learned.
