Petric is a great shout, is Wagner Love still any good and considered gettable too?

Regarding previous posts.
We won't be spending anything like £25m net.

If we dont sell one of our best players to fund transfers, then everyone better start preparing their preseason predictions for 8th or below if thats the case. Anything less and we'll be lucky to tread water and wont be close to contending for 4th place.

Love is owned by a team that just got knocked out of the Quarter finals in the Champs League (although presently on loan in Brazil), reputedly is paid over £100k a week, and is also reportedly more interested in the ladies than exerting himself in training. He may be a very good striker, but I'd doubt he'd come to Villa at present, nor even that MON would be even the slightest bit interested in him.

I've been angling for Petric ever since he came on against England in 2007 and put us out of the European Championships. He made England's supposed best defensive pairing look a right couple of mugs and he seems strong, mobile and likes a decent lash of the ball when he gets the chance. Exactly the kind of player I want to see in a Villa shirt.

Isn' Petric a little too slow?

Olic on the other hand would have been a brilliant signing, but would never come now.

I'm sticking with Parker, Hleb and a forward, possibly Rodallega, but I'd need to see more of him to be sure.

Would be happy to dispose of Beye, Shorey, Davies, NRC /Sidders and Heskey / Carew if needs be.

Out:

Reo-Coker - £5,000,000
Harewood -£400,000
Salifou - £100,000
Shorey (heard he's already signed for Ollbeyun) £2,000,000m
Sidwell - £3,500,000
Guzan - On loan for the season
Delfouneso - On loan for the season
Heskey - £2,000,000

In - around about £13,000,000

In:
Parker - £4,000,000
Owen - £2,000,000
Bent - £15,000,000
Bullard - £2,500,000
Richards - £ £6,500,000
Hart - £8,000,000

Total spending: £38m
Net Spend of £25m

A big ask for Randy to find that much, but if I was Martin O'Neill that is what I would be asking for.

That said, would spending £25m make us any closer to getting top 4 or would we need to spend that just to stand still?

That list would take us backwards, as would getting rid of MON

I  personally wouldn't purchase all of those players, but it isn't as if O'Neill will purchase anyone from outside of Britain is it?

I never suggested we get rid of O'Neill.

Can't argue with the first two, not at all sure about Rodallega so not for me.

I don't think Petric is all that slow. Seems on the ball to me. Olic is just a fantastic player and has virtually won a league title and reached a EC semi in his first season at Bayern. So it's unlikely he'll make the trip to B6 lol.

I had a dream that we signed anelka signed for 15 million. Although Robben was playing as we beat arsenal 3-0 away from home the week before we signed anelka lol

I can't understand these overseas suggestions.

Surely you know by now that it's British or nothing?

Apparently Carlos had big problems understanding Martin's and John Robertson's accents, it's now club policy to only buy British.

Obviously that could change in the summer if MON is sacked.

That's very frustrating... That said I've been saying that for the last god knows how long and unless in the broadly unlikely event he gets the push I don't foresee a change.

Still frustrating.

Benayoun would be brilliant for us. We need 4-5 extra players through the creative and defensive side.

Defensive Mid of real quality with good legs that can play in place of Petrov. A de Jong, Palacios type and of similar quality. Lassana Diarra playing much? Or the other one?

Then a Berger type who floats about and can pick a pass, score some goals etc - Benayoun is ideal

And attacking midfielder who can take the pressure of Milner - Ireland would be my first choice but think most of the league will be after him. Chelsea should be after him to replace Lampard and United to replace Scholes.

Striker - Santa Cruz has done nothing at City and would get goals if fit. There must be other options in Europe who have better fitness records though surely?

Winger/ Striker - we have to be able to take Down-a-prancy-pony out of the side when knackered and likewise Young. Bellamy is again idea in a 4-3-3 but unlikely due to age and availability. There has to be someone of his type coming through either in Championship or lower prem somewhere, or in Europe.

Would give us creativity and quality. Cost - shit loads I imagine. Maybe 60 million. Could claw back 20 or so on squad players. But 40 million net us very unrealistic.

Thing is, if we want to get there (the promised land) now we have a solid squad, we need to be willing to spend the extra to get there. What was 15 million to push on 10-15 yeas ago is 60 million now.

I'm just watching Real Madrid and Lassana Diarra isn't playing again.

He seems to be out of favour at the moment.

He would be brilliant for us, do people think we would be in with a chance?

He's out with an ankle injury at the moment, think he is very much loved at Real. But even so he cost them over £20m so they're not going to just give him away, they sold Robben on for around £23m. They may be ridiculous when it comes to spending money but they're not mugs!
