I think McGeady may well be his first signing of the summer. Normally if there's no truth in rumours, he says so, but he was asked about him last night and he said he did'nt want to talk about other teams players.

Nothing will happen until Sunday when I go off to Spain on my hols. I can guarantee it. I will then annoy the hell out of my family, checking H and V, VT, News Now and the official site every ten minutes whilst supposedly having to be interested in the 20th jewellery shop we have been into...

I agree Risso it is all rather depressingly bleak at the moment. Under 2 weeks until we kick off and it doesn't look particularly inspiring at the moment.

Fulham look to have dropped their interest in Steve Sidwell but a move for Luke Young could still be on the cards.

The Cottagers looked to be closing in on a move for Villa midfielder Sidwell but now that Mark Hughes has taken over at Craven Cottage, he is believed to have other targets.

A deal to take Sidwell to west London is not dead but Villa boss Martin O'Neill says it is hanging in the balance.

"The manager who was expected to go there, Martin Jol, has stayed where he is," O'Neill revealed. "I don't know if a new manager will make things happen quicker or not."

Meanwhile, Fulham are also keen on Villa defender Young and O'Neill says a move could happen after the player rejected a £2.5million move to Liverpool.

Mcgeady is flying to Moscow tomorrow for talks. If MON really wants him, he should wait it out. Let him sign for Moscow, then after a season when he is homesick, sign him for £2m.

I'm just back from a week away.  Spending £2 on a paper every day to learn nothing at all.  Makes the old clubcall service seem great value for money

No I imagine we'd wait until next summer and sign him for £18-£19 million.

Got it in one Maz though the Blackberry has tended to replace all that. My old tactic used to be to go for a morning run, ostensibly to buy the baguette for breakfast in France. I would then dive into the nearest Tabac and peruse the backs of all the red tops for any precious mention of the Villa. Somehow, that was always more exciting than this 24 hour a day internet trawling business...

I don't want him either, but at tye suggested £7m we're prepared to pay he starts to make more sense.  But then that's similar to the suggested Bentley fee, who'd be much better for us, IMO.
