One we've heard before I don;t know the website to comment on whether their any good or not, but thought I'd post it to add a little positivity to today's proceedings.

It's one of the worst websites for actually knowing, well, anything.

They got it from the Italian press...Although I don't know how reliable they are either.

From Calcio News

Football Transfer - NEWS MILAN - JUVENTUS NEWS - Huntelaar - Camoranesi - The tag Mauro German Camoranesi more than a compensatory 5 mln for Huntelaar: This is the proposal that the Juventus turned to Milan yesterday afternoon . The Rossoneri would prefer to monetize from the sale of the attacker , for which the 'Aston Villa seems to have offered 16 million . In any case the money from the sale (at least in part) should be re- invested in the market. So the proposal Juventus could be a good compromise and also because the Milan Juventus could also draw from other "cards" , which Poulsen, Zebina and Big.

Huntelaar will never sign for us

Why is McGready about as popular as an STD?

Other than the obvious 'because he's shit'.  I have to admit I have never seen him play and I am surprised so many people must have seen him regularly to form their opinions.

Personally I don't think we need a winger, We have Downing, Young A, Albrighton and Bannan, Buying Mcgready would hamper Albrigton's development in my opinion.

But out of those mentioned, they all play on the left, or prefer the left. So, Albrighton as a natural right-winger won't be hampered by the signing of another loeft winger. But I agree with the general thought that we don't need for another winger.

However, for a side who plays with width its not as if we have had much joy down the flanks over the last season or so.

Its my understanding that Mcgready was a right winger. Is that wrong?

if we did sign him then he would play on the right? Albrighton could play there or even Young if Mon wanted to play Downing on the left.  My point is we have options and we are more in need of a central creative midfielder that's my opinion anyway

In:
Clyne
Ireland
Flamini
Huntelaar

Out:
Milner

Outlay little to none!

If this did happen would we be able to release, on a free, big earners like Sidwell, Heskey and Beye to attract clubs to pay their wages?

Out - £35K a week
In - £350K a week.

We'll need the transfer money to pay for that bump up, not just the cash reserves from getting rid of them.

How on earth did you get £350k p/w. Even if the 3 senior players were on 100k p/w each do you really think Clyne would order £50k?
Huntelaar, Flamini and Ireland all want to play football regularly, I don't think the wages for all four would be much over £200k p/w. So if we move on Heskey, Sidwell and Beye to other clubs for free, we'd free up nearly £150k there + Milner's wages too.

If Villa sign Huntelaar it will be the most spectacular signing since I've been watching them, even if he's not the most spectacular player.

However, I'm not holding me breath.

I imagine they are talking about Euro's which is what, about £12-14m? Which we would have if we sell MIlner.

Well, based on a 4-4-2 we presently have Petrov, NRC, Sidwell, Milner and Delph for the centre and Ash, Downing and Albrighton for the wings, so numbers wise you'd say out wide needs an extra player first.  This may well be different once certain player leave, but I still contest that we need two for each position so an extra wideman is preferrable, if not a necessity.

Not sure about Villadawg's translation, but the website story does say

"Villa will probably have to sell Milner in order to fund the deal"

But he plays wide right and is described as a winger.

I thought an attacking midfielder was someone who had flair and played centrally like Sneijder or Ireland. Or is it now the term for wingers who are shit at crossing?

I don't know about that Paul...the money thing that is, not the Milner thing, that saga is most definitely still rumbling on....
