With the Delph injury, one of NRC and Sidwell will have to stay now.

I here the creative midfielder better holding midfielder. So that means we get rid of Milner? I guess you all mean Stan. As I said earlier yes we need an upgrade to him but that will not happen until next year at the earliest!

I like the look of the two Sporing Lisbon midfielders:

Joćo Moutinho and Miguel Veloso. However both have been linked with Man United, Real Madrid etc.

IF we could get them two, a world class right back and a world class Striker we'd be sorted. *winky*

Petrov at 31 won't last the full season next year if we play 4-4-2 throughout the season.

No, it means we don't play 4-4-2.

Dave Cooper raised the suggestion about Milner playing the holding role. Initially I thought it a waste of his talents but is it? The more I think about it the more I like it. He has the engine for it. He can cover so much ground and he gets stuck in. He might need to get a bit stronger but maybe he's strong enough.

Its not like he's always making runs into the box anyway. If we could maybe use a more flamboyant player in front of him it might be a recipe for success. So maybe he and Ireland could work together well.

--------------------Friedel--------------------

Richards----Cuellar------Dunne----Warnock

--------------------Milner(c)------------------

Downing----------Ireland--------------Young

----------Agbonlahor------Dzeko-------------

Or something like that.

I like that team, although the midfield may be a touch light weight. Also Dzeko would cost an absolute fortune.

Maybe. If the midfield needed beefing up, take one of the strikers off and put Delph in next to Milner. When the poor fucker can walk again of course.

I don't know much about Dzeko but I do like the look of that team. And just because Milner is in the holding role it doesn't stop him being creative, he has probably the best "engine" of anyone in the Premier League, he'll be breaking up opposition attacks one minute and popping up in the box the next.

Do any of you rate Dorrans?

With Curtis surplus to requirements and Baggies needing to strengthen their defence, a good bit of business good be some kind of swap deal involving these two.

One thing I agree with there Maz, is Milner as captain. I like Petrov but we really need a leader on the pitch.

Plus it's a small incentive to keep Milner at the club? I know it only has symbolic value, but it may make a difference, who knows.

I do like this idea also I remember at the start of the season when I suggested Milner in centre of midfield and everyone said he was too "lightweight". Really like this team. But I'd have Ash on the right and Downing on the left.

Another honest thing in my view if someone came in with a £10m+ bid for Downing I would snap their hands off! Albrighton could easily slot into this system.

I suggested making Milner club and team captain last week. Give him something to be loyal to and make him a leader. He is very professional so this would show the club values and recognises him more than just his bank balance.

Several people were considering Milner in the centre. I dont blame anybody for having reservations about him being lightweight for central midfield but he seems to have added some steel to his game. He might need to add a bit more to play the holding role but he's so adaptable I'd have no concerns.
