Does anyone think Beckford's worth a punt?
Don't know if he's been discussed.

Ask Cooper's Injury ...

£15 million asset in 12 months time, Swiss CI's cast iron guarantee.

Personally wouldn't bother with him, but MON might find a place for him on Thursday nights alongside Salifou and the rest in the UEFA. By all accounts Moscow didn't perturb him, and he's keen to treat the comp as an irrelevance again unless we get to the latter stages.

He said he would use the competition as a chance to give some of the younger players a chance. It's weird that he gets criticised for not rotating and also when he does.

He was criticised for not rotating in the league more than anything, Chris. It wasn't a blanket "he never rotates, full stop" criticism.

I think we need to understand the difference between 'rotating' and playing the kids.  The way he's balanced Heskey/Carew and used the squad for some domestic cup games is rotation, but Moscow was not!

What I'd like to see him do is when we have a home banker (I know!) play the Fonz instead of Gabby and/or give Milner or Ash a rest.

I think saying criticism for not rotating is an over simplification.

For example, part of the criticism is that the players MON doesn't want to use are ones that he brought to the club.

Guy at work, has put money on the following as he's saying he's had a tip (which he won’t reveal) that it's all going to happen:

Milner to Man U for 16.5 million.
O’Neil to Liverpool and Hughes to the Villa.

Very much hope this is all cack, but he seems very, very convinced.

16.5, are you on crack, we got only a bit less than that for Yorkie, a generation ago.

Jbase I agree, I can think of at least 19 players M'ON has brought to the football club over the last 4 years who he would not consider to be part of his first choice 11.  I understand there will always be a few, but I think a figure of 19 plus is far too high, far too many failures here, we would have been better off bringing more kids through or keeping some of the previous squaddies.

Tell him to talk to me as I'll give him a million to one that Milner won't go anywhere for £16.5m.  I'd gladly take the idiots money!!

Surely the right number of players for his first choice 11 is...err...11?

I wouldn't sell James for less than 35 mill, Berbatov and Rio were both well over 30 mill and Lescott 24 so I think we should hold out for at least 35 mill.

Nope I'm not saying it's true or likely, I'm just saying what someone else thinks, as this is a transfer rumor link.  However wildly outlandish those runors are :)

The transfer market is completely messed up, lets say we sell Milner for £30million, thats the same fee Barcelona are probably going to sign Fabregas for...

It's not unusual to play your strongest available side in the league and use the cups as an opportuinity to rotate.

What about when your best players are so knackered they're no longer your best players?
