Doyle for 15m would be lunacy. I think he's at the right type of club as big Mick has faith in him and all the player goes through him, not sure he'd prosper that well at a bigger club.

I remember 18 months ago people scoffing on here when we were linked with him at Reading for about 7m.

I agree with what some have said. Doyle is hard working, but he will score you goals to go with that endeavour. Last season I found him impressive and his 9 goals seems like a miracle, considering that Wolves main tactic was to attack the 18 yard line. If we’re looking at playing 60 plus games next season, with the league and domestic competitions, then I wouldn’t be adverse to seeing a player like Doyle chip in with 8-10 goals, especially if we’re adding Keane, who I really do rate. I think Doyle is a surer bet than Del-Boy at this stage of his career.

I don’t quite know where the term “past it” comes from or what it’s based on. Just because the bloke has been horsed around in a similar fashion to his early career doesn’t strike me as past it. I think he’s got something different to offer from Carew and Gabby, as his game isn’t reliant on pace and power.  To give it some context, in the last 20 minutes against Man United in the League Cup final, having the option to bring on Keane and Doyle or Gabby and Carew would have given us a much better chance of finding a goal from the pressure we mounted.

I’m not saying that these two are the only two players we should look at, but if we did get them in, presumably to replace Heskey, then I think we’d be 20 plus goals a season better off. If we can couple that with making the midfield a more creative force, particularly through the centre, then we’ll have improved on last season and as we all know, the improvement that we seek appears to be the last big step of the smallest of gaps.

I find it odd that because Keane is being released by Redknapp some are saying that makes him a poor player when the same people have been singing the praises of Darren Bent all season.

Letting Bent go was odd, letting Keane go is the right decision, he's past it.

As for Doyle, Where's the goals?

£15 million Carlton Cole?

I'll be honest enough to admit that I had a few last night so my memory is hazy. I have just had a flashback though and vaguely recall hearing on the radio that we were showing an interest in FIFTEEN MILLION POUNDS STRIKER CARLTON COLE?

Dat true?

I hope not.

But he's English based, overpriced, vastly over rated, so therefore ticks all the right boxes for MON.

Villa and Sunderland have joined Birmingham in the race to sign Fulham striker Bobby Zamora. (The Sun)

Your argument, Mark, was that Redknapp is no mug. Given that you agree with one of the decisions and not the other it means that you're not totally convinced.

Doyle has a better than 1 in 3 career record.

Not interested in Doyle myself. For all Doyle's hard work, Keane would get more out of Gabby and would score more goals.

If Heskey is going, I think we only need to sign one striker. I have enough faith in the Fonz to come through.

If Carew does end up going as well, then we can do much worse than Rodallega for 10m

I don't have any stats to back this up, but I'm gonna hazard a guess at his prem record being not as good as 1 in 3.

I reckon 'Arry shunted Bent out because of a Christmas party he threw without permission.
Seriously, I think 'Arry jumped the gun and made a sweeping decision based on a couple of high profile misses ('My Missus could have scored that')
Or maybe they had a big row?

As for Doyle, when he was in the Premiership with Reading, he scored 6 in 36 - Very Heskeyesque.
Your 1 in 3 statistic is bolstered by a glut of goals in the Championship.

Dunno but he got 9 in 33 last season which is pretty close to it and that in a side that created few chances.
