'Arry has said he thinks that the Milner deal is key to any transfers from here on;

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/8878928.stm

I might be reading too much into it, but could that mean that we definitely have a deal lined-up for a Spurs player/s as and when Milner leaves...?

That is exactly what I thought when Harry mentioned it.

I think we've got Keane lined up already, just waiting for the cash/wage bill to be freed up. Also I think if we could get Ireland we'd not bother with Bentley.

That money to Spurs would then be spent by Harry, and so the chain continues.

It all sounds reasonable and makes sense, but could you imagine the uproar on here if MON came out and said our transfer deals are dependent on a player going from Spurs to Man City?

I'm kind of coming round to the McGeady signing. I do think we need other types of players more but his signing would allow us to move Ashley back to the free role where he's excelled previously.

McGeady and Downing wide, Ash off the front in a 4-1-4-1.

It's certainly an option.  We could also do it with Keane (presuming he signs) off Gabby and Young wide with either Downing or McGeady.

A bit more than the SEAT deal we had last year?

ho hum.  McGeady and Keane could be the answer to a lot of questions but "Who do we sign to get CL football?" isn't one of 'em :0(.

Our only chance seems to be Citeh giving up chasing Milner.

'Martin O'Neill has defiantly defended his reputation for leaving signings late in the transfer window, roaring: "I couldn't care less what people think".'

Heheheh.

Its a fair bit more than what SEAT were paying us apparently. Our combined sponsorship per season now amounts to circa £10m+ a year according to a friend/associate who knows these kind of things.
That's taking into account FxPro (which he was right about) Fiat, Thomas Cook, 188 bet and so on.

I'm not sure that'll be steering any of our transfer activity.

Was it a Milner-style 'bad back'?
