Good review of Sylla from Houllier, sounds promising.
From the man who signed some absolute turds at Liverpool, and Makoun at Villa? I'm worried.
He also brought in Bent and Kyle Walker and he wanted Cabaye before he had to leave.
Swansea will probably sign Kenwyne Jones. If he doesn't get greedy, Stoke will also sell Crouch. Maybe this will mean Bent goes to Stoke, or Swansea?
Cant really see bent fitting in at stoke- a lot of highball up and under stuff - dont think he would be suited.
I can. They have Etherington and Kightly, who whilst aren't Ronaldo and Messi are decent wingers. I think a partnership of Bent and either of Crouch and Jones could work with wingers supplying them.
He is better suited to their system than what Lambert seems to want to play.
Would only happen if crouch goes but yes he had a good partnership with jones on wearside.
Yeah, I guess Crouch is worth more than Jones so that would make sense.
The pendulum seems to have swung to 'Bent staying' though.
Unless harry pays the asking price on crouchy - then could be all change again, often one deal can trigger a domino effect.

He's signed some decent players as well, and by and large knows French football.
What exactly did he say?
Phil From the Upper Holte posted what he said on here somewhere a bit earlier on.

Harsh to write off makoun as well as he never really had long enough to prove himself.

Agreed. For all his faults, I think that, had he remained in charge, we wouldn't be in the mess we're in now.
Montbert, There is a link in Cilla's thread, but it's posted in here too a few pages back.
The bit I liked in the interview was when Houllier said something about a 'midfield triangle' It gives you such a lovely image of a midfield with shape!

His man management and pr skills may be somewhat poor but he did have us playing a better brand of football which was pleasing to the eye- if he had stayed i expect we would be around the top 10 right now.

I saw that. I had an image of Westwood, Delph and the Huge Man Sulla actually providing support in the centre. Quite a thought.

Yes a bit of structure would be nice.
AOff topic a little, about Houllier - I was really looking forward to the summer transfers and the team would change before he became ill. Even after that, when McAllister took over for the final few games I was excited about the idea that Houllier could become a football director leaving a coach in charge of the first team. What a disappointment it was then when we ended up with McLeish.

I switched SSN on and the first image was the jellied eel, jellied eye twitching, Jiffy bag smelling, text virgin, crooked cockney bastard.
I'm not going back there
