As has been said far more articulately by others, unless we spend in the transfer window and get a couple of established/experienced players in, we are probably going to be relegated by the time May comes round. Not once under Houllier or McLeish did I ever feel this way, but I do now. The events of mainly the Christmas period up to now have shattered my faith in the club's future prospects. I'm genuinely concerned.

As am I, the ownership is completely negligent now. There's no other word for it.
We will be down before may Legion. Watching a slow car crash in motion, screaming turn the wheel while the driver sticks 2 fingers up.
Ivan Gaskell on Twitter saying that PL has said he is not optimistic about new signings and doesn't want to put the club in financial trouble if we go down. Lerner has clearly already given up and is resigned to relegation. Lack of fight on and off the pitch is pathetic.

Even if this turns out to be an elaborate bluff, I will find it hard to forgive them for making me feel this hopeless.
I'd have thought that you felt hopeless quite a lot of the time Damon!
You're pretty perky about all this.
So there it finally is, the truth of it all.
They think we are going down.
It's not exactly the height of positivity is it.
Here's some transfer gossip. Apologies if already mentioned.
IRELAND new boy Jeff Hendrick has emerged as a transfer target for struggling Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old Derby County midfielder was called up to Giovanni Trapattoni's senior squad for the first time this week for next month's friendly against Poland.
Despite being just 20, Hendrick has made more than 80 appearances for the Rams and is a strong competitor in a physical league, something that has impressed Trapattoni when he watched the midfielder at close quarters over the last two weeks.
Villa are on a woeful run of form under manager Paul Lambert and sit 17th in the Premier League.
They suffered an ignominious exit from the League Cup on Tuesday, ousted by League Two club Bradford City.
Lambert has been working under a reduced budget at Villa Park and has blooded a host of youngsters since taking over. In addition, the Villa boss has signed a number of prospects from lower divisions and Hendrick fits that profile.
Which is more chaotic, behind the scenes or on the pitch?
It's not getting heavily beaten that is concerning, it is looking like getting heavily beaten in a lot of matches. I really don't think I've seen a premier league team picked apart so badly.
That includes the terrible Derby County team.
Mate at work knows Culverhouse's sister who lives round Potters Bar. She told him in December that Lambert had initially been told there would be finances available, but then was told otherwise. I didnt believe him, thinking he was taking the p, but seems more and more likely with each passing day
Can't be right, no club in their right mind would resign themselves to be relegated. Not even one run by a complete fucking imbecile would even give a sniff to their fans of anything but hope that we'll stay up & show some fight! No, I refuse to accept that this is the case, there ABSOLUTELY MUST be things going on in the background to ensure our safety.
From the bbc site
Leeds United have entered the bidding to sign Stephen Warnock, 31, report the Yorkshire Evening Post.
They have approached Aston Villa about a loan deal for the out-of-favour left-back.
The paper says that both Leeds and Wolverhampton Wanderers have expressed a firm interest in Warnock, who spent the first half of this season on loan at Bolton Wanderers
Well thats a lot of good isn't it. Why loan him if non-one's coming in?
Who do we want first then next season... Wolves home??
I still think it will go to the wire regarding whether we go down. Provided we can keep certain players fit of course.

I think she could well be correct. I remember PL saying a while ago that he has targets lined up and will be bringing people in during January. Now he isn't sure we will make even one signing! Clearly something has gone wrong. As I have said before, I think the club may have expected the likes of Bent and Warnock to have gone by now. That could maybe have something to do with it. Sell to buy policy?
