I can't see us buying Riise. He doesn't fit Lambert's young and hungry profile. He'd also cost a transfer fee and high wages which for a player well into his thirties would be a very large outlay. Why would he want to leave a solid mid table team in London for us at this stage in his career anyway?

Dave you seem unwilling to listen to anything other than Bent should play no matter what.
No, just keen for "Bent doesn't fit" to not become another lazy "of course Zat Knight is better than Cahill, the manager says so" type assumption.

While those sagely nodding along with everything Lambert does still can't seem to come up with a logical footballing reason why they would want Bowery on the bench ahead of Bent.

None of us know what's going on behind the scenes but if Lambert and Bent really haven't had a fallout there's no logic to not have a potential matchwinner on a bench of five. I've nothing against Lowery - I've never seen him play! Has anybody else?

No, but if his football's as bad as his paintings we've wasted our money.

I'm not too keen on his matchstalk men and matchstalk cats & dogs myself.

Agreed there is no logical reason I can think of, and Lambert certainly hasn't identified one.

Even less logic with a bench of seven.

Does anybody seriously think Bent is being left out for 'footballing reasons'?

Come on! Even if a player doesn't fit your style (which you could convincingly argue Bent doesn't) that doesn't explain why you don't at least have them on the bench. If Benteke, Gabby or Weimann get injured or we need a goal/change of plan does not having a £20m stiker on the bench for 'footballing reasons' make any sense whatsoever? No! It is a no-brainer. Something has happened/is happening behind the scenes

Bent should be on the bench ahead of Bowery. You say say you don't want assumptions, but you're making assumptions because Bent scores goals.

Totally agree, lambert is hiding the truth in my opinion if he says bent is being left out for footballing reasons.

There's enough Bent threads already. We really don't need him annexing this one as well.

Bowery has my vote. He scored a lovely goal for me on FIFA in the FA Cup away to Walsall with essentially his first touch. In true Lambert style I "rested" Benty from that game. Bent wasn't happy.
