Rumours McLeish has quit. No idea of how reliable they are.

They just had the Peterborough chairman on SSN, saying that Forest pulled out at the last minute due to some trumped up problem with Boyd's eyesight.  The chairman (McAnthony?) was livid, and intimated that McLeish wanted the player, but his chairman didn't.

sounds like our club to be honest

Disliked Simon Jordan before tonight.  Although he is a bit of a cock, he's probably the first person to appear on SSN for years who didn't kiss Redknapp's arse over his transfer methods.

Didn't we use to have him in the youth team? Or was that his brother?

It was him about 7 years ago.

The most worrying thing for me is if Lerner is in a right old mess financially and is struggling to sustain bankrolling the club anymore. I'd much rather he'd just decided enough was enough for the time being but the cost cutting has been so quick and severe it certainly doesn't look good does it? and we all know what happened to last club that fell apart at the seams this quick, they still haven't come back now.

I still can't lay the blame at managers feet for the state we're in. No one would have sorted this shit out with the money and wages available.

One thing Lerner isn't is struggling financially.  He's a stirling billionaire, not just $ billioanire.  How much of that value is liquid and instantly usable is another matter, as is if he has funded us directly or through the Lerner family trust - I think he needs agreement from other family members to access these funds.

That's the only thing that could possibly make a modicum of sense - the trustees have blocked him.

And they do have that power, and may well use it if other beneficiaries object to the money being spent.  However, even in those circumstances, surely even some corporate trustee in Delaware can see that the value of the TRUST'S investment is going to get hammered if we get relegated.

It's the only idea I can come up with.

They probably do appreciate what relegation will do to the value of the club. Maybe they see that as acceptable risk in the belief that if it did happen it would only be a short/medium term hit and the club would recover both status and value.

On the other hand, their experience of english football is that you can throw large sums in and end up with a bunch of liabilities that suck yet more out of the family pot without delivering much back. it's happened for three managers running, what reason do they have to think fourth time lucky?

Just been catching up with the list of yesterday's loans.

Upson to Brighton ?!?

Villa must have been interested in him, surely ? Hell, I'd have happy with Woodgate at this point.

If Villa couldn't compete with Brighton for a player, things are worse than I dared think

What a farce. Not one defender signed for the worst defence in the league. It beggars belief. I try not to be too negative about things but it appears either Randy doesn't care, Lambert is an incredibly poor judge of his squad or both.

In fairness to Brighton though, they have a beach, a pier and they'll also be above us next season!
