Signing players now is like changing deckchairs on the Titanic. Utterly futile.

I dont see how. Its exactly what we need for instance.
But maybe now isnt the time for rational thought, its the time of rage.
I really can't be arsed. I'm as tired and fed up as everybody else. But I'm damned sure what we need is new players or we're in trouble.

The subs tonight were basically just more of the same. We couldnt really do anything except go for broke.
It will be that way until we get some more players.
1 week or so to do some very important business.

I think if we don't buy anyone we go down. Not based on what abilities they bring now as brittle as the squad is we a signing to boost the players psychologically.

Very worrying times

I think unless we change manager we are down anyway.
£23m and hes made a poor team far shitter.

I don't think his signings are the problem, I still maintain we'd make a comfortable profit on them if we sold them in the summer.

It's his tactics that have let us and him down.

Yes, we might have spent a reasonable amount of money in the summer, but the fact is that we were always going to have to do so because there were a series of players out of contract, and after the debacle of the previous two seasons (and MON's recruitment of older players), no saleable assets. I agree that the players he has bought would generally all be sold at a profit at the end of the season.

The problem has been the inability to develop successful and adaptable tactics. I thought Lambert was the right man for the job, and I bought into his approach in the circumstances. Its obviously not working out at the moment, but I really hope he manages to pull it around because the club needs stability, and frankly cannot afford more managerial pay-offs. The second half tonight doesn't give me much confidence.

How could signing better players be futile? It's hardly like we're cut adrift at the bottom of the league.

I'd say its because we could sign Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Vidic, Kompany and Casillas yet we'd still concede at corners, we'd still have no width, we'd still piss about aimlessly playing square balls because thats 'possession football' and we'd still lack the motivation to battle a 4th division team in a semi final.

(in other words - the penny's gradually dropping - the manager aint good enough)

I saw PL post match interview. He was asked at the very end about new signings. He responded with something about the chairman being great with him and then said it's not the right time to be talking about it.

It was uncomfortable to watch him squirm and come up with something other than the obvious facts that he has no meaningful money to spend.

No.

Spend the better part of 10-15million and try to scrap the hell out of it like QPR and Toon. Southampton have shaken things up, too. We can't remain stagnant. Our first team players can not feel secure in their positions. They need to feel expendable, that they will be sold off to shit clubs if they can't perform at this level. No more excuses, this is a man's game and the best league in the world. I can't believe some of them have lasted this long. Start shipping 'em out! Bring in talent.

So what gives today?
Do we look to sign some players to try and get out of the shit, or do we sit on our hands?

You can't do things on the cheap in the PL and expect to do OK, sooner or later you will struggle and go down, we have been like this for the past 2.5 seasons - it's catching up with us. Randy, do he get this??? Does he care???

I believe that Lambert may have called Randy last night, but it would appear that his resources have now been siphoned into building the world’s largest wooden airplane and stocking up on the Kleenex boxes, that he is currently stacking and re-arranging in his germ free bubble outside of Cleveland. The General has assured Lerner that he will be over for the next match, on the proviso that the Spruce Goose can make it across the Atlantic and a protective germ-free bubble can de installed in the directors box in the Trinity Road stand.
