Maybe we have bid for him, and been told we've got no chance.

Lets be fair, we're not the most attractive proposition at the moment, are we?

All sorts of problems with our situation.  You can bet  if we are after anyone of decent quality then the club will want some sort of relegation clause on their wages. Not a particularly attractive proposition  if you'd end up on less than you are now. Likewise any good player would probably want some sort of relegation exit clause which probably wouldn't appeal to the club.

If it is true that we might not make any signings Lerner will merit the money he loses through relegation.

Lerner must be so sure we'd get relegated even if we buy new players if he doesn't give money for Lambert to buy players.

Lerner has to be bricking it just reaching for his wallet given how most of his investment through 4 managers has gone down the shitter.

True. He has backed them all, and we have the weakest squad in the league. The problem for me is that we are not actually miles away, and the 15 million now would be much more rewarding that going down.

Bah its all just very, very shit.

If you are determined enough to succeed you will sell the club to the player no matter how bad things are and you will do whatever it takes to get the player you want.

We sold the club to Bent when we were in the drop zone. It seems we haven't the determination to succeed any more.

This thread should be changed to 'wake me up when something happens'.

We could well have been attractive due to the 60k per week.

A low key "come hither eyes" approach from Villa will not attract players at the moment.

Now's the time for dropping knickers and saying "come and get me big boy"

I think you're right Ozz. But Lerner has to be wondering whether that 15m will be spent well, or just become another gaping hole in his balance sheet. I think we all know what we need, it's another thing if the manager sees it the same way and brings in the right players with 8 days left.

The thing is, if we really have f all to spend, then 1.5 on Davies and Reo Coker on a free would be an improvement on the current side. And cheap.

Well said Ozzjim, we are not a bad team when we do try to play. It's been said over and over again, we just need a bit of experience in the spine of the team. As you say, if we gamble on staying in the league with what we have now, it could end up costing us a lot at the end of the season. We need an experienced midfielder and Dunne to come back and partner Vlaar at centre-back.

I think I'd sign a centreback to partner Dunne and replace Vlaar. He isn't the player many fans think he is. Stick him on the bench and us for cover.
