Curtis Davies transfer would be fantastic news for us if he signs for any of our rivals in the bottom 6.
Im sure there is money available but not a large amount and cannot see lambert being interested in any more forwards at this point , midfield must be the priority and maybe a defender in on loan.
Three weeks into the transfer window, and given our desperate, desperate, desperate situation, you'd think... ah, you know the rest.
Don't worry - ''we'll be fine''
Thought Davies was pretty close to cracking it at Villa before that shoulder injury. I liked him, but I think he's got too much to do to win people over if he came back.
I'll be honest, I'd be focusing firmly on 1-2 central midfield players coming in, and look for a six-month loan deal for a CB. Someone who knows the PL well enough. A short -term deal would give us cover for the remainder of the season, protecting us against Dunne relapsing and Baker's recurring knocks.
One or two transfer links emerging today.... Newcastle in for Gouffran, apparently, but offering just £750k... and a freelance journo I follow on Twitter claiming we've had a bid rejected for Danny Graham (how reliable he is, I don't know....)
Saw that , also suggested PL not in charge of transfers ..
Gouffran is out of contract in Summer hence low fee , we have been linked in the past.
Hoping Newcastle don't bring anyone in till we play them
Isn't Gouffran mainly AMC and winger rather than striker even though he can play as one? if he's just about 750k-1 million we should be for him with that kind of money. But as Eastie said, midfield and defense must be the priority.
He -must- buy physical midfielder, in game against WBA we lost all energy from midfield when he had to sub Delph for Bannan and I think it cost us two points.
Davies can be good when playing with a big commanding CB partner. That allows him to play just behind in more of a sweeper role, as he did with Laursen. That type of defender though is not what we need right now - the big commanding one is. So he's just not what we need, even if £1.5m is a decent price for him.
Point taken John (and Juan Pablo). Obviously we can do better than him but i would'nt be too distraught if we did pick him up for that kind of money.
As for Danny Graham, no he's not what we need.
Don;t get why Graham is in such apparent demand. His record is ok but nothing special especially since most of it is in the lower leagues

ALmost got me in trouble at work.
I had to surpress a big laugh! It is quite remarkable how many oldies we crave. Luke Young, NRC, Davies.
What is Zat Knight at these days? Get on the blower Lambert!!
Salifou.
(you know it makes sense).
It's funny, we wanted rid of Sidwell, Ridgewell and Hughes etc... They'd probably all get in this team now.

well zat knight technically wasn't a transfer disaster as he did ok 2nd season, and we flogged him for more than we paid. He was an average premier defender which is more than you can say for Davies. Actually that's a good shout.

Habib Beye owes us big time
Larf, Facepalm, Meh, Bobbins

I miss that thing Zat would do when we conceded and it was his fault, which was to stand there pointing in a random direction, at the imaginary 'real' cause of the conceded goal.
I would much rather have Knight back than Davies and... I don't really want Knight back.

Thought i was a bit harsh on him in retrospective because he was arse to start with. Then he seemed to grasp the rudiments of defending and MON sold him! But then MON wouldn't know a centre half if he was put in stocks while Cahill and Olof blasted the ball at his face. He was ok and looks an inspired signing now compared to some of the defenders MON spent millions on
