I doubt they are trying to, he's either banned or he isn't. I'm not sure this scenario has happened before so no one seems sure. That possibly includes UEFA as well.

The rules state that any cards don't transfer over to the semi, so if they do actually ban him for the first leg, they are setting a new precedent & they will owe Villa an explanation.

Samir Nasri has now condemned his behaviour’ You stop a shot on goal, you don’t need to attack the opposing fans by telling them “shh”, frankly.’

He’s an animal I tells ya…. Attacking those poor innocent people with his indiscriminate ssh’s.

Prick.

I just reported being attacked by the local librarian for much the same thing, and all they wanted to do was tell me how wasting police time is a crime.

Paul Dempsey always used to be the presenter back in the studio so I was surprised to see he's gone into commentary.

He needs to go back, he’s an effing useless commentator.

He was absolutely awful. And was I imagining it, or did he start pronouncing Luiz as Douglash Luiz and Santos as Santosh towards the end?

He's done it in all of our games. Douglush, Tielemon..he spends ages trying to show everybody how clever he is by pronouncing everybody's names "properly". Just get on with the commentating, Alan bloody partridge. TNT as a whole is completely awful, the only decent person there is co-commentator Lucy Ward who's very good.

He’s fucking terrible. I was commenting on it before the game, hoping it wouldn’t be him again last night but it looks like he’s in for the competition. And yes, the Doog - lash thing was the biggest irritation, I turned the sound off for the first leg. Just had him on quiet last night and my two lads chatter and occasional yelping drowned the ****** out anyway.

There was a point in extra time when he was waffling on about something and Ward, seemingly teetering on the verge of losing all patience with this fool gritted her teeth and said "...like I said before", like you do with an idiot that isn't listening to you.

I forget exactly what it was in reference to but it made me smile.

She did that a couple of times in the last game, & possibly the game before too, when he completely ignored her explanation of our injury issues to spew his own agenda. Happened a couple of times.

But she stood her ground & made sure to state several times that we have missed a lot of key players this season through injury.

Cards don't transfer over, but if you pick up enough bookings in the round of 16 and QF the suspension does I believe. Luiz and Diaby could have been suspended for 1st SF if they were booked yesterday.

Apparently the gray area is that he reached the two yellow card limit for suspensions not that he was sent off.
I dont think he can be banned for that but there is a two yellow card rule so I'm assuming that's why nobody actually knows. To be honest I wouldn't be too worried with Olsen in goal fir the home leg anyway.

According to the young lad from the Evening Mail, it sounds like Villa have been told after the game that Emi will be banned for the first leg. They just need to find somebody in UEFA with a bottle of Tippex so that the rules can be changed. Plus, we're not allowed to appeal.

I think the grey area is whether the QF technically ended at the end of extra-time, with a drawn tie, to be decided on penalties.  Hence the second yellow not counting toward a 'red', because penalties is not technically "part of the same fixture".  It's a straw, and I'm willing to cling to it until told otherwise.

Well it 100% wasn't a red so that's OK.

The accumulation is the only possibility I can see resulting in a ban but again as long as its only the home leg I wouldn't be too stressed.

If the cards didn't didn't count together during the actual tie, how on earth can they do so for the next tie?

This is UEFA we're talking about.
