Paul Dempsey always used to be the presenter back in the studio so I was surprised to see he's gone into commentary.

He needs to go back, he’s an effing useless commentator.

The commentator really is Partridge

"He escaped by a tiny, tiny, fraction of the law..."

So he wasn't sent off because he didn't break the rules enough to get himself sent off.

Tit.

Lucy Ward was great again. That chap doesn't help himself...

Who was that wanker?  He can see that the crowd have been giving Emi dogs abuse and yet books him for a shush.  If that's inciting the crowd fine but also book Jonathan David for trying to wind the crowd up to give him more abuse.

I now see it was Paul Dempsey.  Never heard of him but he must have won a raffle to be a commentator for a day

UEFA trying to ban him for the Semi

Where have you seen this? I've been looking for something definitive on it!

I doubt they are trying to, he's either banned or he isn't. I'm not sure this scenario has happened before so no one seems sure. That possibly includes UEFA as well.

First time I've tried to attach an image. Apologies if it hasn't worked.

Looks like he is having read the rules. 3 yellows is a suspension, which he has.

But they also mention yellow cards AND pending* yellow card suspensions are not carried over. So it depends what the second line means in the context of Emi and those yellows. We should know by the weekend, and as others have mentioned, missing him for the first leg is not the worst thing really.

*(although that line seems to be the play-offs to group stages.)

Does the penalty yellow count though. Logic says yes, but logic also says he should have been off for 2 yellows. As yellows in the game were wiped before the pens, where do they fall discipline wise. QF and before. Semi finals. Twilight Zone. Does anyone know.

This is a cut and paste from UEFA's website.

I've read it half a dozen times and I'm still none the wiser.

Regulations of the UEFA Europa Conference League

Article 48 Appointment and replacement of referees
48.01
The Referees Committee appoints the referee team for each match. Only referees whose names appear on the official FIFA list of referees are eligible. The Referees Committee’s decision is final.

48.02
UEFA arranges for the referee team to arrive at the venue the day before the match. If a member of the referee team does not arrive at the venue by the evening before the match, UEFA informs the clubs immediately. The Referees Committee takes the appropriate decisions, which are final.

48.03
If a referee, assistant referee or video assistant referee becomes unfit to officiate or is otherwise incapacitated before or during a match, he is replaced by another member of the referee team as follows, in accordance with the IFAB Laws of the Game:

The referee is replaced by the fourth official or the video assistant referee if one has been appointed and is available on-site, or by an assistant referee.

An assistant referee is replaced by the fourth official or by the reserve assistant referee if one has been appointed.

A video assistant referee is replaced by the assistant video assistant

Article 52 Yellow and red cards
52.01
As a rule, a player or a team official sent off from the field of play and/or its immediate surrounds, including the technical area, is automatically suspended for the next match in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Europa Conference League or UEFA Super Cup). In case of serious offences, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body is entitled to augment this punishment, including by extending it to other competitions.

52.02
In case of repeated cautions:

before the group stage, players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after three cautions, which did not result in a red card, as well as following any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc.). Exceptionally, after the completion of every two rounds in a UEFA club competition (i.e. UEFA Champions League and/or UEFA Europa League and/or UEFA Europa Conference League) in which a player was registered on a club’s list and eligible to play, the number of yellow cards he received that did not result in a repeated caution suspension is reduced by one;

from the first match in the group stage, players and team officials are suspended for the next competition match after three cautions, which did not result in a red card, as well as following any subsequent odd-numbered caution (fifth, seventh, ninth, etc.).

52.03
Single yellow cards and pending suspensions are always carried forward to the next stage of the competition in the current season.

52.04
Exceptionally, all yellow cards and pending yellow-card suspensions expire on completion of the play-offs. They are not carried forward to the group stage. In addition, all yellow cards expire on completion of the quarter-finals. They are not carried forward to the semi-finals.

52.05
Cautions and pending yellow-card suspensions from the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Europa League or the UEFA Europa Conference League expire at the end of the season.

Matt Maher who is usually quite reliable says on Twitter that there's a fair bit of confusion and confirmation would be received today. I don't think it makes any sense for yellow cards to be expunged but for bans to carry forward, especially when the two yellow cards didn't result in a red.

This is where I am.  I am 90% sure he'll be suspended, but part of my wonders if it's one of those weird things where the end of extra-time is technically the "end of the quarter-final" and the penalties exist outside of that.  But then if he'd gone and headbutted the ref, he would have got a red and definitely been suspended, so hence the 90%.

I think we have to assume Olsen will be playing in the first leg, unfortunately.
