Percy reporting that this is close to being completed. And he’s pretty much bang on with his stories.

We will be getting one of the top keepers in the PL which is fantastic. Allows Heaton to recover in the right time. Steer will be third back up with Nyland and Kalinic on the outside looking in.

I think this is a good signing, but it's just brutal having to spend so much on yet another keeper.

c£36m on keeper & fullback, two positions I thought we'd be ok in. If we could have got through with Steer and Nyland until Heatons return that would have been ideal, but I presume they are worried about Heatons ability to stay fit.

But all said and done it will be great to have an excellent keeper to start the season.

Is he one of the top keepers in the PL?  As far as I can tell he's only played in it 15 times.  The Arsenal fans seem to rate him though, which bodes well.

If it is confirmed we need to clear out some keepers. I feel for Steer. Not sure how or what he could have done to establish himself  in the first team squad? He should think about moving on, may be to the Championship or League 1.

Not getting injured almost every time he got a chance at a run of games would've helped him a lot.

I feel sorry for Steer there isn't a good time to get injured, but he got injured at the worst possible time. If he had managed to stay fit he'd have had a good few months to establish himself as a premier league keeper.

But cliche alert: that's football.

This is turning into a very good window now.

That is two positions we are already fairly strong in strengthened with a player that makes a decent player the reserve. So long as it doesn't mean we have no money left in the tin for the positions we are short in (doubt it) then it shows we are having a real good go at correcting last seasons deficiencies.

Winger and a central midfielder next by the sound of it. If I were greedy I'd want a left back, preferably funded by getting shot of Hogan / Lansbury/ Taylor etc.

Well done to the club, I was critical of the lack of activity but now things are happening we suddenly look like finishing far higher up the table.

Superb news.
Percy is reliable but let's give credit via Tom Kershaw too who broke the story with the independent .

Kershaw can be added to Percy for reliable transfer news.

So true I have emphasis with Steer in losing out when it was his time.
It's rather unfortunate but hope he has a part to play in cups.

We're generous with our fees, aren't we?

Neil Cutler is going to be a busy man coaching half a team of goalkeepers. Clubs will know we're desperate to offload Nyland and Kalinic so we'll take a haircut on them (Nyland is nicely coiffeured, admittedly).

But yeah, welcome Emmi the Great !

Would it be good if all the transfers come off

It's a shock to the system for us Villa fans, this new found not-fucking-about-over-transfers shit. We're used to missing out over £500k or having the manager have to walk onto the pitch and tell that honestly, the chairman is not a tight arse twat, and we will get the player we want.

Yep, it's refreshing.  Okay so we may overpay here and there but now it's 'so fuckin what, that's who we want'.
