Still have a nagging suspicion he’ll be gone in the summer.

Not with the World Cup coming up.

He'd be first choice for any side in the world (bar PSG).

Yeah I wouldnt be surprised if he goes.  Shouldnt we be trying to look at an improved contract or something?

Kasper Schmeichel's still at Leicester and players in the game are starting to realise our ambitions and wanting to play for us and Gerrard. Signing someone like Coutinho should give anyone pause for thought who may have been thinking that they need to move.

Yes agreed not with WC a few months away.. He became a regular for Argentina after joining us so we are helping him to progress rather than hindering. However I do think if he does have a good world cup CL teams will come for him.

I think he genuinely loves it at Villa.  But we need to get to Europe quickly.  We've got Coutinho for 6 months, I think we need to take the extra step and go all out for a DM to make the most of it.  If we finish 6-8 then hopefully these players will want to stick around.

Seeing where he was two years ago and where he is now I think he will continue on here. He has cemented his place as Argentina's #1 and is being celebrated as a Top 5 keeper in the world. He's only ever been appreciative of what Villa have done for him and I would hope he sees the project we are embarking on.

Argentina's Current World Cup Roster.. he seems safe.

GK: Franco Armani, River Plate
GK: Federico Gomes Gerth, Tigre
GK: Emiliano Martinez, Aston Villa
GK: Juan Musso, Atalanta

As much as I love him and all great teams start with a world class keeper (copyright Brian Clough) if any player wants to go at the first sight of someone else's knicker elastic then just like Greedy - they can go

We will simply move on

(whoo hoo 10K up for me!)

The difference with Grealish is although you might lose your best attacking player, you can use the money to strengthen two or three positions, and change your formation which actually makes you a better attacking team.

With a GK, that doesn't work. You can only replace a goalkeeper with another goalkeeper.  He is, quite simply, irreplaceable at the moment.  You could use the money to buy better defenders I suppose, but the goalkeeper would be weaker, and that makes the defence weaker.

I think it's a bit defeatist to think he will be off in the summer. We have just gone out and signed on the top players in world. A player who only 3 years ago cost something in the region of 140M. We are building something significant here. While there will always be a club higher up the food chain we are showing we want to be higher up the food chain. I think that can be every bit as appealing to some as just wanting to be there like our former captain who now can't get a game.

I think well Emi could be off in the summer.
Teams in Spain and Italy v interested
Clauses for European competition and that and Gerrard wants a keeper who is better playing with the ball.
I  think Gerrard fears  Martinez his lack of ability to kick the ball , distribution by feet and that Emi doesn't fit the playing style . On Martinez side we cant get him the Champions league football as quickly as he wants.
Don't be surprised if we get Dean Henderson
I suspect Emi will be leaving but not this window.
And Villa will double the money paid of £20m because looking at £50m which is good business

Footy, you’re posting increasingly bizarre nonsense. Gerrard wants a keeper who is better playing with the ball? Where have you invented that rubbish from?

£50m is only good business if it gets us another goalkeeper with his presence and footwork who is as good. Unlikely.
