We kept clean sheets in half of our games in 1996/97 and still only finished 5th?! Blimey.
Think we'll probably need something similar to be in with a chance of finishing in the dizzy heights of 7th this time around (crazy!).

We only scored 47 goals that season, and we've got 36 already.

Thought he looked a little nervy against Southampton and West Ham, but was back to his assured best yesterday.  For a keeper who is not from this country, he is so good in the air from crosses.  Been an excellent signing.

Do they not do crosses in other countries?

They're banned in the EU, due to the vampire paedophile cabal that run it, that's why Kallinic and Nyland were shit.

Every single European club game and England international in the 90s. "We need to test this keeper with some high balls, he looks iffy on them". Can't remember it ever working. Football equivalent of Corporal Jones saying they don't like it up 'em. Hadn't heard it much since Big Ron got booted off the box.

Were those 19 clean sheets all with the same goalkeeper? I assume that was Bosnich.

Van Der Sar, Schmeichel, Cech should probably have asked for a few pointers from Scott Carson. He'd have set them right.

Their careers took ages to come to an end, Carson pretty much achieved it overnight. Lightweights.

Is Carson still at Man City living the dream (seriously - no pressure, surrounded by the best players in the world. Even Stuart Taylor must be envious)?

He is, and according to this site [whose reliability was seriously questioned on another thread], he is on £25k/ week.

I haven't read it, but I've heard an article about reserve goalkeepers being discussed on a podcast recently. Stuart Taylor, who apparently made 75 first team appearances in a 21-year professional career, was mentioned. That is verging on Carlos "Kaiser" Henrique Raposo territory. Again, according to this site  he was on £5k/ week as a 36-year old 4th choice keeper at Soton in 2017.

Kaiser Raposo? The greatest trick a reserve goalie ever played was convincing the world he didn't exist.

WhoScored's number 1 ranked keeper in Europe so far this season. One of two Villa players in the European best 11.

Emi Martinez Tribute vs Brighton
Lady in Red.

I've never seen you playing so lovely as you did tonight,
I've never seen you shine so bright,
I've never seen so many men ask how he catches without a glance
I'm looking at your goalkeeping stance, never letting in a chance,
And I have never seen such saves you're making
Your TV highlights that I care,  You catch my eyes,
I have been blind,

Emiiiilo Martinezzzzz is the best goalie, week to week,
There's no crowds we hear, it's just Sky and BT
It's how we have to see
But we already know this beauty in our side,
I'll never forget the way Emi played tonight
