In an interview Martinez said he wanted to beat the club record of clean sheets in one season (as he's now got his target of 10) does anyone know what the record is?

Without checking I thought today was 11?

Now I’d better go and check 🙄

After the West Ham game, I actually felt more disappointed for him that the team as bizarre as it sounds. Just the best or most important signing we have made in years. How many times does a ball come into the box and what would normally be a dangerous situation for villa, fizzles into nothing, as Emi jumps and collects the ball mid air calmly. Just a fantastic keeper.

Yeah I think you're right pretty sure he's now on 11 but what is the club all time record for clean sheets in a season?

And to think there was a suggestion that he should be dropped.

He has been an absolute bargain at £17m so far.

By one person. The way you go on about it you'd think there'd been a nationwide petition.

Hence why I said 'suggestion'. Do keep up.

Depends if it's one of those "premier league era" ones he means.

38 games

95/96- 13
96/97- 19 (that surprised me)
98/99- 15
99/00- 16

08/09- 13
09/10- 15

Wow! So it looks as though 20 is his new target so we're gonna need 9 more.

Thanks SoccerHQ for the stats.

What a player, what a keeper!
Just heard his post arsenal match interview. He is a leader on the pitch and in the dressing room. A tremendous signing.

We kept clean sheets in half of our games in 1996/97 and still only finished 5th?! Blimey.

Thought he looked a little nervy against Southampton and West Ham, but was back to his assured best yesterday.  For a keeper who is not from this country, he is so good in the air from crosses.  Been an excellent signing.

Pissed me off so much. 2nd, 3rd and 4th place were all tied on 68 points, 7 ahead of us. Goal scoring was the problem that year compared to the top 4. We really chucked it away in the last 5 matches, with only one win.

Do they not do crosses in other countries?

They're banned in the EU, due to the vampire paedophile cabal that run it, that's why Kallinic and Nyland were shit.

Think we'll probably need something similar to be in with a chance of finishing in the dizzy heights of 7th this time around (crazy!).
