Spurs are not signing Disasi according to the Guardian about 20 minutes ago, so maybe that's the green light for us.

The "speculation" I'd seen was that Disasi wanted to join us, but Chelsea are reluctant to help out a Champions League rival so would prefer he went to Spurs (but he rejected them).

We have a minimum of 17 games to go until the end of the season. Hopefully more.

We cannot conceivably go with 3 CB's over that period with 2 of them out injured as it stands with a pretty reasonable expectation of additional injuries and possible suspensions (could happen) to come.

This cannot be allowed to happen surely?

Maybe we knew this and it's why we're 'calm'.

Swinkels out on loan - surely that means we are close to a defender coming in.

I’d take Maguire at this point. I don’t even know if that’s a joke yet. Ask me at 11pm.

You must be tired and delirious from being on nights?

spurs have have had a bid rejected for marc guehi.

apparently chelsea don't want to do business with us, as a champions league rival.

(imagine typing that 10 years ago!)

Reckon Mings will be OK for Spurs game which must be a factor.

Huge gamble though. I personally  wouldnt risk it as we are in three cup competitions at the moment and i dont think torres is back until april.

I’m pretty certain the ‘relaxed’ statement is a negotiation tactic.  A CB will be here come 11pm its just a case of how far down Monchi’s list we will have to look.

Not sure many of you have done any negotiations training but stating that we are desperate and looking for a panic buy, might undermine our negotiation platform.
Saying we are relaxed is messaging.

Our track record, however, suggests that we're also authentically deranged.

Of course we’re relaxed, have you not seen how good we’ve been defensively this season?

Occasionally.

Well, yes. Even if we do bring in a central defender, it's arguably two weeks too late and our delaying has probably cost us points against West Ham and Wolves.

Given that the Turkish transfer window doesn't shut until a week tomorrow, there was no need whatsoever to leave ourselves in such a precarious position.

I have, but saying we're relaxed is fine, if the negotiating team can't see behind the curtain. Sadly, football isn't like that. Any selling club knows full well we're not relaxed.

Must be. Just went a bit mad while watching MOTD2 this morning and remembering he plays left & right occasionally.

I don't think we should read too much into what the club is saying about relaxed. They can't exactly sound the panic alarm, it would just put prices up and lead to us accepting a bad deal.

I am certain they will be trying hard to get a centre back in.

I do wonder now we have Rashford in if we would entertain a large bid for Watkins off Arsenal with a defender coming the other way. Whilst I don't think it will happen, it wouldn't surprise me if it did.

If Baily goes I think Felix will come in, but not otherwise.

Could we make an offer for Guehi at Palace? Out of contract in the summer so has to be possible.

Guehi out of contract summer 2026 not this one. Sounds like Tottenham have already enquired and Palace aren't keen as they are already down to one fit defender.
