Winter 2025 Transfer Window - hopes, speculation, rumours etc.
« on: October 21, 2024, 09:37:48 AM »
As we don't currently have a winter thread, I thought I would add it here. But are we big enough now to be able to leak our own rumours to unsettle player about to play against us?

Quote
Aston Villa have entered the race to sign Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo, 25, from Brentford.

Booooooo! Transfer speculation sucks especially when we're the best team in the land. We don't need nobody else, just you and me.

True. But, I like Mbuemo. It's exactly what Watkins needs. More competition to destroy his depleted confidence.

He'd be competition for Rogers though, wouldn't he? We do need another option there if Emery doesn't think Buendia can step up.

He is a good player though, wouldn't be upset to see him come in.

Guess it has been a while since we plundered Brentford's jewels, we're probably due to take one.

Right Backs.
Now if we look at the right backs out of contract end of season there could be a possibility to make a strategic offer this window.
Also possible to sign them up for next season on a free

28 year old Dutch Denzel Dumfries of Inter would be an excellent move.

What's your feeling about the links to Fernando Nelson?

Dutch Denzel Dumfries sounds like the kind of gangster featured in one of Percy's podcasts. I'm all for it.

Fernando Nélson Jesus Vieira Alves (born 5 November 1971), known as Nélson, is a Portuguese retired professional footballer who played as a right-back.

Oh a former player.  He has a two year stint at Villa.

I remember when our right back was Kenny Swain, and Villa boys like Des and Jim and Ken had proper names.

Regards potential first team player sales and contract expiry coming up
Robin Olsen and Courtney Hause expiry in summer 2025
So could be looking at bringing in another keeper in January
Hause a loyal servant who has been unlucky with injuries.
I suspect he'll leave on a free.

Contract expiry 2026 potential player sales this winter?
Of first team squad Carlos, Digne , Mings and Buendia will all have 18 months to run in contract come the opening of winter window.
I can see Buendia being loaned out at very least if he isn't getting much more game time.

If we have any money to sign a player in January, then it must be a right back.

We have Cash, Konsa, Nedeljković and Bogarde there. With Mings back we have the option to play Konsa right back more than we did before. With Bailey being hit-and-miss this season and Philogene still unproven, amazing super party goals winger has to be the priority.
