If he goes to Manchester United it’s because he’s not good enough to play for one of the really top Clubs.

I think he’ll end up staying but he clearly suspected Spurs was his last home game!

You know that’s complete bollocks though right? The keeper voted number 1 in the world, the current holder of back to back Yashin Trophy’s isn’t good enough to play for a top team. Your head has completely gone if you believe any of that. Some people are starting to believe he wants to move away despite not a single quote or action by him or even attributed to him to indicate that’s actually the case.

Please have a look again at what I actually wrote. It even begins “If he goes to Manchester United …”

If he goes to Man U it will have nothing at all to do with his ability.

For someone who has gone off form, he did win save of the season.

Great reflexes but his main weaknesses last season were parrying the ball back into a dangerous area (ie Monaco) and ill communication within the corridor of uncertainty with his henchmen in defence.

The two main henchmen had a horrible habit of avoiding that corridor of uncertainty like a dose of (insert your least favourite STD). Torres for the Man City winner for example. Konsa, well nearly all season on the other side. He knows neither will be much help at set piece time either. All can place doubts which lead to indecision. GK and his 2 x CBs - need a rock solid relationship and ours going back to the tail end of the previous season has been anything but.

Before the debacle with Cash at OT, there was another game during the season (just escapes me now) where his starting position was far too low and we got caught or nearly caught. To be fair, was it v Bayern where he played the sweeper keeper role to perfection?

All that aside, he's an outstanding keeper and would be a collosal loss.

How about a clubs need for a top keeper? It’s one specialized position versus one in the outfield where you can have multiple top players. How about money on a keeper versus other positions are the top clubs? How about that he’s 32?

Speak to ManU, come to a deal. They buy Martinez for 65m, then we buy Onana and Rashford for 60m. We're finally rid of Martinez like the club wants, have an upgrade in Onny and get Rashy free. Job done. Running a club is piss easy.

He's an amazing character, been an amazing keeper and probably has 2 great seasons left in him at 32/33. He's been poor at times this season shot stopping and hasn't made the number of great saves that other keepers have at crucial times. Sels at Forest has made some saves I don't think Emi could in the form he's been in this season. His presence and area command has been exceptionally good though and that is what will be the most difficult to replace or indeed replicate. As such it's a huge decision to sell him this summer, and one that could see Mings play a lot next season for his leadership at the back

You are right about his command of the box for crosses and how much we will miss his presence, although there have been times when i have thought "he should have come for that"
Not sure UE will use Mings more as he seems to infatuated by Torres.

I think some people are showing their coping mechanisms off here. He's fucking brilliant and if he goes we won't find anyone better.

He's got lots of years left, he's quite young for a keeper.

I'm with Drummond, he's the last player I would want to leave (maybe bar Kamara, but I have already started my coping mechanism for him as I think he'd have signed his new deal by now if he was going to)

And had only played a hundred or so matches in his career when we signed him. Loads of playing left in him yet.

Not at all, I would prefer him to stay and have a brilliant season, but I don't think it's a coping mechanism to pretend like he was anything more than average for shot stopping last season, and that's probably quite kind. Everything else, outstanding at times, but 3-4 great saves have papered over a bang average season, which he himself said.

My policy is that he's the best goalkeeper in the world and I desparately want him to stay.

This will remain the case until he fucks off, when he'll have been bang average all along and we can easily do better.  The only exception to this is if he either retires from football completely, or signs for Albion which is basically the same thing.

See, finally, a rational take.

If we have to sell him because of the made up rules on finance that seemingly don't apply to some teams, then ok.
If he goes to that fucking cesspit of a team I'll be first down to VP to paint over his fucking mural.

Which teams do you think they don't apply to?
