And really, BC Villain, your post about our owners not being clever enough to subvert the system is genuinely one of the most nuts things I’ve read on here in years. Incredible.

Not that incredible, if you read the forum after one of our defeats.

I think well probably get around £30 - £40m for him.

Apparently - its Saudi, Man Utd, and Barca.  If thats the case hope he goes to Barca - otherwise whats the point.

No player is irreplaceable, and that includes Emi.

However, I love the guy to bits, I don’t want him to go, and it’ll be absolutely heartbreaking - as it was with Jack - if he does.

These PSR rules are absolutely mental. We’ve sold £200m worth of players in the last 12 months, or thereabouts. We haven’t spent that much. How the fuck do we end up having to sell more of our best players this summer to stay “sustainable”?

Technically correct but ten years ago, we shipped out Benteke and brought Rudy Gestede in...

My own position on Martinez has been for most of the season that this might be the optimal time for him to go but now it seems as if it might actually happen, it's an opinion I no longer hold. Be careful what you wish for and all that.

My hunch - Emery has seen enough of Rashford that he now falls into that first category and if we don't finish fifth or above, he's said to the board "do what is needed to make the Rashford money work". And paying a new keeper £100k per week rather than paying Emi £200k per week is one of those measures that we're considering.
Yes, the key point being that it is the squad cost ratio and not PSR that could be driving us to offload Emi.

On that note, has an agreement with UEFA been formalised, or are we still negotiating?

No player is irreplaceable but in Emi’s case you replace him with someone not as good

Clearly no player is irreplaceable - but my view is people often massive underestimate how easy it is to replace a player.

He'll be a huge loss. However, if letting him go allows us to make a bigger improvement elsewhere then it could be worthwhile. Same goes for any player I guess but he's done a lot for us.

There's no way it's ManU. They can't afford him because we'd double the price.

Man United cannot afford him and they're also absolutely shite.

My concern is if we don't make the CL and they win the Europa Cup and they qualify he might be tempted to go there. Let's hope Spurz win on Thursday then!

Are Barcelona definitely looking to replace their goalie then? I do hope so in that case!  :D

True, but the Sky 6 think they can do what the hell they like with their creative accounting!

I do. He's one of the best goalkeepers in the league and Europe. You want the Argetine number 1 who has 2 years to run, you pay the price.
