I think your 2015 ones are a bit of an outlier.

They were probably very wise to get off that sinking ship before it took them down with it.

I know. But it still grated with me at the time - they had just lost an FA Cup final, it wasn't like they played for Bolton Wanderers or somebody

Sorry you’re just talking nonsense - “accept first offer that comes along” I struggle to see how any of the sales we’ve made haven’t made sense - I didn’t want to lose Doug, but he wanted to go. Duran was always agitating and we got a brilliant price.

Luiz may have (though it appears he regrets it now) but Duran would have stayed if he'd been used properly.  Sell Martinez and should his replacement not work, Emery and his staff will rightly face the brunt of fans anger.  Blame PSR all you want, but constant talk of selling all of our players and then selling below market value is a completely short-sighted policy.

I'm not sure i agree Duran would have stayed but even if he had i believe he would be agitating for a better move this Summer.  Loyalty wasn't amongst his qualities

TYC Sport is reporting Aston Villa FC have received offer around €120m for Argentine goalkeeper, Martinez from three major clubs in Europe and Saudi Arabia club. But it's less likely DIBU will join Saudi Arabia as is less attractive. Likely to stay in Europe in readiness for the 2026 World Cup.

If a European club has offered us £100m for Emi I would absolutely eat my hat.

£120 Million. As much as I want him to stay we should cash in at that offer. Who in Europe is going to pay that for a keeper though?

And he was as likely to have had a six-match ban as scored another dozen goals.

Him going or staying could depend entirely on us qualifying for the EC. Finish 4/5 and he stays.

I said that yesterday to someone. Maybe that's why he was emotional thinking it might be his last game rather would be. Tied up with Emery saying he didn't know, it would make sense.

No European club can make such an offer. Not here , not in Germany, not in Spain. Clubs in other Euro countries no chance. Story is total  bolloxs.

I'm not seeing that at all, even the Saudis only really paid slightly above the going rate for Duran who will have massive resale value.

Duran is a great talent with tons of potential but clearly absolutely the last sort of player to have anything built around him.

The West Ham thing - I mean, West Ham FFS - the constant stories of him being a twat, the willingness to take the money and got to Saudi at that age.

It was absolutely the right thing to do to take the money.

And really, BC Villain, your post about our owners not being clever enough to subvert the system is genuinely one of the most nuts things I’ve read on here in years. Incredible.

No player is irreplaceable, and that includes Emi.

However, I love the guy to bits, I don’t want him to go, and it’ll be absolutely heartbreaking - as it was with Jack - if he does.

These PSR rules are absolutely mental. We’ve sold £200m worth of players in the last 12 months, or thereabouts. We haven’t spent that much. How the fuck do we end up having to sell more of our best players this summer to stay “sustainable”?

And our turnover will be plus around £100m.

Honestly, Emi clearly loves the club. Dougie has been pining to come back, I’m not sure he wanted to leave in the first place and had just resigned himself to his fate. It even makes me wonder about what the exact situation was with rat boy, and if it was genuinely him that wanted to move or the evil hands of the accountants* forced him to make the best of a bad situation.

* for clarity, obviously not all accountants have evil hands. I’m sure BV has hands so lovely that you could only assume he does his washing up with Fairy liquid for example ;)
