Onana is 5 years younger and was very highly rated at the time. And ManU are stupid with both fees and player development. Hard to put a value on Emi, especially depending on why he's leaving. Who was the last 32 year old goalie with his kind of profile profile to be sold?

We thought Duran would go for like 90 - 100m.  He went for 60m.   We only got £40mish for dougie

Martinez is 33 - and I just dont see anyone paying more than 50m to a club that has to sell for a 33 gk.  And I dont see Man Utd or Barca have that kind of money to spend on a 33 gk.  Unless its a made up deal with book value.

I hope Im wrong - but I would be surprised if I am.

You are, he’s only 32.

In dog years, he’s reaching his prime for a goalkeeper.

Sorry - I mean 33 at the start of next season (well Sept).

I think we'll all be gutted to lose Emi but we have to trust those that have got us to where we are in such a short space of time. They will get it right I'm sure. It has be said though his are massive boots to fill. It's not just his shot stopping ability and his presence he's really good with his feet. Sometimes I watch him strike a ball and I think he could actually play outfield

We are assuming it isn’t his choice to leave, of course.

Could easily be a bit of both. He isn't agitating for a move, but if we're gonna let him go for PSR he won't turn his nose up at someone like Barcelona (or, more depressingly, getting a shedload more cash in Saudi).

Jordan Henderson's move to Saudi Arabia didn't exactly work out well. I'd rather he went somewhere else in Europe (not UK).

TBH if he leaves, I would rather he went to a team we have no chance of playing against.

That mistake from Areola is something we need to watch out about. Although someone earlier mentioned the replacement needs to be good at coming for crosses, the modern day GK needs to be good with passing under a bit of pressure as well. Although Martinez had the occasional clanger, they were very rare compared to some keepers these days.

if he goes to a top non uk team - I can live with that.  To another UK team Ill struggle.  To Man Utd and i wont be proud of how I react.

Dont think hes suited to Saudi - think hell end up in hot water.

Is that the punishment for parading a trophy in an unconventional way?

This is what I think.  I think he would happily go into next season as a Villa Player - but at the same time wouldnt be against moving.

the frustration for me is that were not in the position to tell other clubs to fuck off.
