Better than Bozzie for me, as he can distribute the ball very well.

To go from Nyland to this lad is some leap.

As is having a fully fledged Brazil international in the centre of the park instead of Westwood or Whelan.

If you'd told me this 2/3 seasons ago I probably wouldn't have believed you.

His handling is superb, so many shots and crosses he could've easily spilled back into six yard box but held on comfortably.

Was a huge save first minute aswell.
Compare to the other end and our first goal. Their keeper palms it to the centre of the six yard line. Having saved a shot from an acute angle. A tad harsh but he should have done better. Emi would have done better.

Guaita's a decent keeper with the odd mistake like the Kane shot the other week.

I actually think the standard of keeping is really high now and there's very few poor keepers around in the prem compared to 15-20 years back. Interesting watching highlights of 90s era and how many low shots would just trickle in to the corner with keeper slowly diving and no one would even see it as an error unlike today.

Bozzy was top class but look back to season reviews of 96 and 97 and he didn't half make lots of errors rushing out and bumping into Ugo or Southgate.  He'd really struggle in the modern game with how bad his kicking was.

I rate most prem keepers, even Pickford who's not terrible but suffers from incredible scrutiny an England number 1 gets.  Think the worst by far is Ramsdale who I thought was awful at Bournemouth last season and so was a bit nervous when I heard we were supposed to be interested in the summer. Sad to say but Nyland was very much bottom 3 standard last year bar the two Leicester cup games. That's example of keeper who just spreads panic throughout a defence.

Lots of good number 2s around aswell when you think Martinez was one, Heaton is now one and he's been top 10 standard last few seasons and the guy making all these incredible saves for Newcastle this season isn't even their first choice.

Heats was good for us last season but have to say Martinez all round game is different level, comfortable top 6 standard keeper in this league so pretty much world class and only a matter of time before he becomes Argentina number one. We could easily get 40-50m for him if that happened.

Jermaine Jenas and Stephen Warnock  on MOTD both have Martinez in their teams of the season so far. Jenas also included Matty Cash and Douglas Luiz in his team.

Everything about Emi is top.
Even his short back and sides and proper parting.

Let's see if he can match him in penalty shoot-outs next week in the cup against Liverpool.

He looks the business, and is somehow supremely convincing even before he has touched the ball. Not just his stature and appearance, but how he holds himself. Nyland was never this, nor was Elphick in another position, who just didn’t look or move like a centre back to me. I would probably have said the same about Ormondroyd though, and appreciate that it should probably be filed under ‘proper football man’ bullshit.

The nearest comparison to a Villa keeper in my watching days is Jimmy Rimmer.
Emi has galvanised the defence and you can see they have 100% trust in him.
His arrival also coincides with our best ever goalkeeper shirts, too.

I remember watching Jimmy Rimmer and  although our back four were great I always had the impression they were shit scared to drop below the standards that Jimmy required and he sure let them know ,and I think this guy will become the same something we haven't had for many years ,for us to keep moving forward we have to have strong characters in prime positions

Might be worth having him on the bench and bring him on for the penalty shoot out. Which we'll ultimately win.

Martinez just looks like a keeper, ie arms seem too long for the rest of him

it is hard to understand why Arteta let him go, the lad is great and I believe a better keeper than the other keeper at Arse who's name escapes me.

I'm so glad we have him down the Villa
