It’s funny watching that how much he has aged - Watkins feels like he’s been at Villa both five minutes and forever.

Interesting words from him yesterday about how playing for England in the summer really impacted his season. He said he was tired mentally and physically, and it disrupted him more than he thought it would. Gave credit to the players who do it all the time.

I wonder too if beating the record played on his mind a bit. There were some bad misses from him over the season. Ones where there'd be enough time for the thought to slip into his mind. We've seen how good he is when there's absolutely no time to think and it's instinct.

He can be frustrating but will really miss him when he does go, hard working pro, likeable and talented. Feels like he could go in the summer due to his age, but be hard to imagine him not being around next season.

I really do not want us to sell him. I want him to stay here another couple of seasons and get over 100 league goals for us. He eclipses any striker of the past 35 years and I want him to really smash that record to pieces and be the player we all look back on as a club legend

In all the interviews about the record yesterday I didn’t spot any sort of ‘and hopefully many more to come’ comments. Either from Ollie or Unai. I really hope he doesn’t leave in the summer.
