Matt Kendrick is the best of the bunch

Ex Heroes & Villains writer.

But none of them are in the same class as Peter Morris, Woodhall or the two blokes off The Villa Podcast.
don't disagree. a lot of the podcasts are not for me. Matt Kendrick speaks the most sense on the ones i've seen , always seems calm(ish) and measured . Some of the others are a joke

Have you heard The Villa Podcast?

What about Dan Bardell?

Bardell’s my favourite, just seems such a nice bloke. Kendrick is good too. The two Irish blokes Neil and Paddy are a great laugh as well.

There's been talk of Villa podcasts in the transfer rumour thread so thought post here as its suitable for this thread discussion

Must say never heard of the "two Irish blokes"
There's two lots of 'two Irish blokes'

There's Neil and Paddy on the 'For the love of Paul McGrath' podcast.
They are likeable and Neil is very much a details man - does a lot of scouting pods on potential targets etc.  It's decent - probably one of the better fan podcasts out there.

The other two Irish blokes are Conan and Liam on 'The Villa Podcast'  This, in my opinion, is the best Villa podcast by a country mile.  The lads are very funny and know their stuff.  It's very entertaining, but don't expect transfer speculation etc.

Well, unless they are learning podcasts or data-driven or insight-driven, podcasts aren't worth my time in my opinion.
I was hoping to discover an interesting one for my forthcoming trip on vacation (I'll be away from Friday) but sounds like it's just people chatting on these things?

These Irish men and others aren't currently playing or else associated with the sport, are they? Do any of these podcasts feature interviews with real players or coaches?

For my attention, it's a must to have something that appeals to my needs, because if it's simply people talking about Villa without any qualifications,I would probably pass on it as that isn't one of the metrics I use to evaluate things.

Learning through listening is fantastic, but I've come across far too many podcasts, football and elsewhere, that are just conversation or banter with little content and professionalism.

What qualifications do your theoretical ITKs have? Gregg Evans? He was a sales rep at Direct Golf before being a journalist.

If the podcast does not exist, make it!

Are you going anywhere nice on your trip?

It must be hard providing content to satisfy Footy’s higher standards.

In that case the best Villa ones for you will be
Claret & Blue - done by the Birmingham Mail team, sometimes have player interviews etc

The 1874 podcast (formerly The Villa View) - This is Dan Bardell's podcast (yes BE - you know who he is).  He's moving it away from being a fan led channel to a more professional journalist type pod.  He used to do it mainly with Gregg Evans, but he's trying to bring in more journalists.  A recent episode was with Kevin Hatchard (Bundesliga commentator, Sky etc) talking about Diaby.

I guess Footy, the challenge is some within the game, say even to have reached the highest levels as our last manager, might not always be perceived to have the most worthwhile tactical opinions for example. So qualifications, from lived experience, or academic don’t validate opinions.

Personally I find too much data driven a bit boring/a bit of a turn off. I tend to listen to podcasts audio when driving, even though some of them are video based and referring  to stats on screen etc.

I enjoy the Villa Podcast as my go to and then dip into the Mail/Athletic related ones too; struggle to tolerate MOMS and drifted quite quickly away from For the Love of Paul McGrath, though kudos to the amazing output the main guy does and I think fairly stat informed?

Glad you are having a break, we all need one, also happy to hear what you are up to?
