He’s fucking terrible. I’d sell him tomorrow.

The person who knows how to work the fax machine link to the FA doesn’t work Sundays.

I think he's a good player to have in the squad for a team pushing for the top half.

Shouldn't be captain, and shouldn't be a nailed on starter either.

I think McGinn is a massive problem and one that Gerrard has made worse by making him captain. For me he’s never kicked on beyond a lower mid table to bottom of the table player. I’m just not sure what his usp is - he doesn’t produce much in attack, he’s not a good passer, and he’s not good defensively. Him starting every week is a big problem.

I know it's all about opinions but he's not 'fucking terrible' at all. Good enough for where we want to be? Debatable. Fucking terrible? Nah.
Thing is he's not played or given enough licence  in his best position enough here
McGinn needs to be played further up the pitch.
Like he does for his national team

Further up the pitch we have Buendia, Coutinho (and Bailey), who are all better, so we don't need McGinn there either.

Said this for 2 years now, he's not good enough for a team who want to be top half of the division. And he ain't no captain either.

Yeah to me it feels like SG wanted to take the armband off Mings and he was the only person who could have it.

Looking like SG dropped a massive bollock giving him the arm band. Painted himself into a corner. For the 2nd time in 3 weeks after Mings.

Need a starting upgrade so this could be the shortest official captaincy role on record.

Couldn't help raise a smile as the camera panned to the subs bench after he was taken-off, his little head moving this way and that to follow the action from the crappy, low Selhurst Park dugouts.

And yet he's our captain. What must the manager be on?

A Championship player that has had the odd decent game in the PL.
Is he still going on the piss with Greasy?

I have said the same for ages. He was an excellent signing for us at the time for the fee and where we were. Howver, he is simply not good enough for where we want to be now. He seems to be highly rated by people outside of the club, (lots of pundits) who watch him on highlight reels, (for Scotland mostly I think). My best hope for him was that we could offload him to Man Utd or Arsenal for an inflated fee, but I think that boat has long sailed.

For all the criticism of McGinn's appointment, and what he does and doesn't bring to the role, not one of us sees him in the changing room before and during games. Not one of us sees him on the training pitch day in day out. Not one of us watches him engaging with his teammates one-on-one when things are going well or badly.

It might turn out to be a terrible appointment, but there is little reason to believe it was done for any other reason other than "he was the best candidate for the job" based on the above observations of the management team.

People were slamming Mings last season, insisting we needed an upgrade in defence, or that he had to improve.  So if he's NOT the captain, who realistically could it otherwise be?  Assuming you don't want a keeper as your on-field captain.

First and foremost he has to put in better performances for the team, because if he doesn't, he'll get dropped.  We know he's capable of better. We've seen it.

Yes, he was great in the championship. How often in the PL? People were pointing out his bad form in our first season up, then he got injured and became the messiah.

Well that was not a captains performance! Totally invisible for most of the game apart from fouling Zaha!

Zaha has him on a string!

Look back and pre-season we were poor but not losing. Gerrard then went and upset the dressing room by giving the Scottish Mr. Blobby the armband.
