With captaincy comes responsibility. A captain should act as some kind of bridge between the players and the coaching staff/management. So when is McGinn going to step up to the plate. Mings was supportive of him when he got given the captaincy. When is he going to return the same level of support and not just regarding Mings, but also Traore, Guilbert, Nakamba, Sanson and maybe others.
He's been very quiet as captain since last weekend's debacle or is it that he's quiet because he's just another "yes" man?

I'm not a fan of McGinn at all, but it's been one match. And you don't know what's going on behind the scenes. Anyway, he's there to gee up the troops on the pitch, not act as a union spokesman.

Agreed, it's only been one game but it's refreshing to see someone accusing McGinn of not stepping up to a plate.

Maybe it's already been emptied!
Union spokesperson uuh?
I may be doing McGinn a disservice. Maybe he's already had a chat with the boss, but he in his infinite misguided wisdom has decided not to listen.
McGinn is probably a great lad to party with, but seriously  captain material no matter how many games? ...No way!
Not to listen to what?
Anyone else make any sense out of the above post?

No me neither

We need a weekly podcast from him after every weekend match telling us exactly what he is doing to put things right and a few anecdotal examples of leadership. Call it Meatball Mondays or something, but we need him to step up to the plate.

As well as stepping up to the plate, he needs to grasp the nettle, act as a bridge, reach out to people, square the circle, not be in his infinite misguided wisdom because there is no I in TEAM.

SJM looked out of shape to me at the weekend…unless he’s got stockier and his arse has got even bigger? TBH I’m not convinced of the fitness levels of several players at the moment despite SG having the full squad for pre-season.

I'm not convinced he's a player good enough to be in a top 10 side. Who's team would he get in to that finished top half last season?

Media loves him (Souness giving it large on TS this week) but I'm not convinced - spent most of Saturday either playing it sideways or on his arse looking at the referee, and i could not discern any leadership at all to right the wrongs that were pretty clear after 10-15 mins.

it was a truly woeful and abject performance from our new captain!

Celtic and Rangers (obviously he'd only choose one of them).

Can’t remember if it was WM or TS, but their commentator at the ground said SJM was our best player against Bournemouth. They must be watching a different game to most on here.

Had a great match at Palace last season. Wonderful goal.
Looking for a proper captain's example today. And to lead us well.
We've got McGinn!

Disappointed in this guy today. McGinn and Ramsey in midfield together weakens us. Obviously got booked and was probably lucky not to get sent off before being subbed. That's hardly leading by example as captain.

Awful for months and months now.

Changing room joker becomes undroppable captain. Looked like he was trying his best to get sent off today, too.

He can get in the f**king sea. Would love nothing more than him being dropped. Try Tim and Kamara instead and it might actually mean the full backs getting forward won't be too exposed.
