He's clearly struggling with confidence, the lack of support in the stands is poor. Not once was his song sing tonight to encourage him. Putting that to one side, at the risk of going over old ground, he is one of the players that does need an upgrade if we're to improve our league position. It's not a surprise that nobody is going to give us one for free so guess what....we need to spend a little bit.

He was very good second half v Everton. In his defence, he is always looking to get us going forward with a long pass to the channels for the forwards. That’s risky and when it doesn’t come off its noticeable.

He just seems to lack the energy he had previously, I thought we’d lose him to Liverpool who want that in their press but now, he’s lucky, very lucky, to get a game for us.

Yep.  I think he needs a couple of games off.  And come back via the bench.  Something ain’t right.

He looks bloated to me. A strict diet and a week or two off the falling down water could be what he needs to find his old form.

The fans were lording up Mings at the end and John just didn't want any of it. He comes across as though he thinks we think Tyrone is still the captain. I feel for him, he doesn't want this captaincy.

Just maybe ,SG having noticed John s’indifferent form, hoped the captaincy could revive his form on the pitch.

Looks lost and not capable of what he is being asked to do.  The formation is hampering a number of the players.

He's a midfielder being to asked to play in midfield. If he can't manage that, he needs to be sold.

Didn't Scotland play loads of games in June or something. Not totally excusing him, he just needs to be not starting every game, captain or not.

He's being asked to drop in to deep areas, pick the ball up from central defenders and play out from there.  No problem if you're Gordon Cowans, but he just isn't that type of player.

He was very poor for the majority of the game tonight.

He seems to lack awareness and composure. Too often looks for the 'Hollywood' ball instead of simply retaining possession for the team.
A captain needs to be a calming influence (at times) not just continually pump the ball forwards.

There is a lot of revisionism about McGinn recently. He took to the premier-league like a duck to water in 2019 and was pretty good the following season too. When Gerrard first came in last season McGinn did well- was my man of the match in the FA cup game at Old Trafford.

He has been out of sorts since then but I feel sometimes our fans are too quick to get on a player's back. He probably needs a rest but I would be confident that he can find his form again.
