Maybe, just maybe, John isn't quite good enough for the Premier Division, just yet.  As much faith as I have in him, he's not arrived yet.  Yes, hang me for heresy.  He will be great, but needs the right players around him.  We don't have them.  I also don't think he will leave the club if we go down, certainly not for the prices being touted on here.

Wash your mouth out and go and sit in the corner.

I think the injury before Christmas will still be affecting him massively. Normally he would have gone through a period of intense physio, conditioning etc after the bone had healed to prepare him for playing again. I’m guessing that just about coincided with lockdown, meaning he hasn’t had anything like the level of treatment and support he would have needed to get match-fit.

Hopefully he will get better as games go on, but the pessimist in me worries that he might end up doing himself more damage and we might have been better off giving him an extra 2-3 weeks to get himself fully fit for the run-in.

For the first 5 games or so he was our best player and our main attacking threat imo.

I’m not worried about McGinn in the long term at all
he’s a model professional and will return to top form I’ve no doubts

it’s just that we could do with it starting to happen by tomorrow please

I'm not worried about him either. He hasn't played since December, he was always going to take a few games to get back into the swing of things. As ever, some fans just have no patience whatsoever.

He’ll be fine. We could just do with him getting up to speed quick.

I wish we had another three or four with his heart and commitment.

He was bloody brilliant for a while in this league. Maybe just maybe we’ve not played well as a team and got the right system and balance. So yes, how dare you, where’s the noose! 😉

Sorry people.  I know it's heresy.  I'm a rat.  That said, if I am right and he still struggles for the rest of the season, we can't lose, as no-one will buy him and we keep him for next season, regardless of the league we are in.

Dropped today.

Not underserved either - he's looked a shadow of his former self since we started back.

Agreed.  Hopefully he can make an impact from the bench later in the game.

That's what coming back from a long lay off can do. He was hardly going to hit the ground running.

Was he that much worse off than anyone else? He was back in training when everything stopped so I'm not sure why he looks so far off the pace and Luis, for example, seems to have benefited from the break.

Better still let's hope we don't need him to.
